Sitting in Cafe Rouge in LHR Terminal 1 which overlooks the concourse.
I have seen the boys in black with sub-machine guns doing their work. Their 'victim' seemed to be guilty of being swarthy in an airport concourse!
The chap was around 30, casually dressed and he didn't even have a stethascope. He was suddenly surrounded by armed security whilst they rifled his bags and his wallet. Four security officers (MI5) then got on their phones apparently call the contact numbers on the various bank/membership/union cards he had in his wallet for verification I guess.
After about thirty minutes what seemed to be his parents turned up and everyone happily went on their way.
Better safe that sorry I guess, although LBA is normal this morning LHR is complete bloody chaos! A combination of budget cutting to be 'low cost' and increased security is not a great combination for efficiency!

My old man missed his flight to Calgary yesterday because of a `suspicious package`.
No Bomb, probably just some idiot leaving their bag behind while they go for a p155.
