Average is 60K i believe,
then they can top it up by another 100k by claiming expenses![Ponder2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
if they are an mep, then there is no ceiling, its whatever they can get by on expenses![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

check out the pension though...... I get an eightieth (1/80) of my salary as a pension for each year worked. Don't MP's get 1/20 th ??
While I think about it don't the police/fireservice get a 1/50th ?
still nice though![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

This is a job we can, each one of us, apply for and we have to be given a chance to win a vote of the people.
Put up some good policies and you never know - you could be parading around with a nice fat pay cheque ... don't deliver and you will be out within 5 years however!!

Travel is generous but I don't think that's the problem. It's having an office allowance that you spend paying your wife to answer the phone or do other important work.
That said, I genuinely believe that most MPs are not in it for the money. I used to work with someone who left to be an MP... he makes less now, expenses included, works harder, and will never make a really fat pay packet as long as he's an MP. I guess there are probably timeservers in safe seats who live well for less effort, but overall I don't think MPs are overpaid at all.
If anything I'd rather pay them more and attract more seriously talented people.

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
interesting that tony blair earned around c.£155K as PM. but his ex-PM pension for life is worth £300K a year. apparently. how's that work then?
just £155K for PM? no wonder we ended up with such a useless c**t. john major too. pay peanuts, get monkeys...

Exactly. CEO of the UK gets, what, a tenth? a fiftieth? of what a CEO of a major company gets. No-one with ambitions to make money goes into politics.
