Just had some friends round at the flat and one of them a__identally spilt wine all over my laptop/_omputer. It's not been quite right sin_e. You see its missing the see si_.
It's basi_ally fubared all over.
Anyway, I looked at my home insuran_e and it says that we don't have a__iidental damage.
I know this is slightly dodgy, but I really need my _omputer for work. What is the moral standpoint of the _ommunity on _alling my home insurer tomorrow, adding a__idental damage to my _over then _laiming a _ouple of days later.
I've never _laimed anything on home insuran_e before so I'm not too _lued up on what the s_ore is.
If I do that, will it look really obvious and will they just deny my _laim right away?
Any ideas/opinions?

It's called insurance fraud and whilst it might seem like a victimless crime, the reality is that the insurance company don't pay, everyone who takes out a policy with them does.
From a practical point of view it's just not worth the risk, you will not be the first to have tried this, there will almost certainly be some clause stating you have to have the accidental cover for a certain period of time before you can claim. Even if there isn't the insurance company is going to flag this up straight away as dodgy, who adds accidental cover to their policy mid way through?
Get your friend to pay for it, why should we?

I've never claimed anything on home insurance before so I'm not too clued up on what the score is.

Get it to a repair place for a decent clean and get your friend to pay, we used to get spilled crap all the time and mostly it's just the sticky residue causing problems.
In the meantime, here's a c for you:
c
C
copy it to the clipboard and paste it in whenever required![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Although I don't know the circumstances, I don't think it's much of a mate who's not taking the lead, I'd be mortified to have spilled wine on a friends laptop and would be offering to sort it out for them.
Good luck with it.

Thanks to everyone else for their input. I think I'm just going to stump up for a repair. Regarding getting my mate to pay for it, he's just been made redundant so doesn't need another pressure on his head. So I won't be doing that. Thanks anyway.
