I owe Carphone warehouse 50.00 from an unpaid mobile bill that is 2 months old.
Carphone warehouse still owe me 45.00 (cheque back) from around 18 months ago that they have offered to send me countless times. (same mobile contract as above)
I have been sent a demand from a debt collecting co, requesting the 50.00 payment but I am obviously VERY reluctant to pay it until I get my 45.00 cheque.
I have spent hours on the phone and sent 2x letters fully detailing the situation to carphone warehouse but it always falls on deaf ears.
Is there anything I can do, should I pay the 50.00 and put it down to experience.
I despise bullies.

Unfortunately there is little you can do to avoid credit damage the way it works today. Long have gone the days of reason. Separate departments within one company haven't got a clue what each other are doing. You've flashed up as owing which has automatically triggered the debt collection.
You'd be best to pay it under duress and continue to get your £45 owed as they can hurt you more than you can hurt them.
Let the debt agency know the score and the reason you are paying it but don't give up on getting your money.
