Default In car SatNav. Which from these two?

I've whittled my choice of SatNav down to two units. The Garmin Nuvi 300 or the Navman F20. They both have excellent online reviews and are both cheap. What I would like are "real world" recommends. Does anybody own either unit and what is the performance like? For those familiar with the Nissan 350Z, I will be fitting it into the cubby hole which is recessed into the dash so hopefully GPS signal connection wont be a problem.

Navman F20

Garmin Nuvi 300

Any advice appreciated.

I've got a Garmin 510 and love it. Gets a signal really quickly (including round central London) My came with the traffic thingy and that's brilliant too. My choice would be a Nuvi. Only problem I know of is, our Nuvi at work has bust already, but i suspect that's due to abuse more than fault of Garmin.

I bet ya most will say Tom Tom.

My choice would be Garmin. Think it also goes down to what mapping software each unit uses too.

H?ope this helps.

2-0 to Garmin.

The Amazon reviews give the Navman F20 4.5 stars and the Garmin 4 stars so its close.

Any other opinions?

Nuvi 300 you may be able to get one from Asda for less than £99 if you look around. I got one last week and I am on the hunt for the speed cam database for it.

I saw the thread on here about that but my local ASDA didn't even seem to have it in stock. Was the promotion in the main Electrical section or was it on its own somewhere else?

It was in the home/electrical section my nearest Asda didn`t have any, but customer sevices phoned around and I had to drive to one about 15 miles away to get one.

Had Navman and it was rubbish. I would go for Tom Tom tbh.

You so need the little offered TMC functions - roads glow red when there are solid jams, yellow when crawling. You use it therefore even when you know where you are going; nuff said... E.g Garmin C510 Deluxe (although mine is going back as it takes 10 mins to get a signal, even in an open field).

I've got a Nuvi 310 and it's been nothing but excellent, hooks up to the satellites very quickly and has never let me down.

Even got a free speed camera database with it when i bought it with 12 months free updates

I have Navman F20. Its brilliant, works a treat. Never had any problems and it was the cheapest sat nav in the shop.

i have the F20 europe edition can't fault it works just asgood as all the others but at a fractionof the cost, just purchased my USA maps for our holiday in Aug, couple of holidays time it would have completely paid for itself, never got me lost.

I have friends that have bought one too on my recomendation they love it too, at the end of the day you pay your money you take your chance I am sure there really is not much difference between them all in the real world.
