Just heard about this on Newsnight. Very sad. A great loss to the music industry and Manchester. Always liked to watch the guy and listen to his views which didn't always go with the flow. RIP and thanks for everything you've achieved.

It is a shame, he was a legend. His XFM Show was superb, he had amazing guests and ALWAYS played the unedited versions of songs. It was quite surreal hearing songs you thought you knew with c**t and F**k in them, especially at lunch time on a Sunday.
I think I'll have a trawl round the web to see if I can find any of his shows.

"Yet another sad day"
Well I'm pretty sure more than 365 people die each year. So they're all sad.
prob more like "sad 20 secs" if you'd ever heard of him. I hadn't. So "annoyed 30 secs until the news moves onto something important"

Really Sad News - The Hacienda [FAC51] was a big part of my early years, along with Legends / The Blood club [annabels].
A very sad piece of news.
J4cko - Cut some slack bro - some of us are really upset about the loss of TW - Let alone the fact that the Hacienda has long since been lost to a conversion to Flats.

I met TW at a Granada filming to do with Danny Sugarmans Doors biography sometime in the early nineties, seemed a nice bloke, both him and Sugarman are both gone.

I became a fan of New Order in 1988 when I was 14 and immediately collected the entire back catalogue. 19 years later and with every album in my collection, they are and always will be my favourite band of all time
In the early 90's I loved the Madchester vibe but never had the means to get to the Hacienda in it's prime.
Tony Wilson is responsible for much of my favourite music. I watched 24 hour party people with real interest, even though I know it was supposedly a bit spoofy.
Despite my love of the music Factory Records and Tony Wilson in particular made famous, I was unaware of his illness until recently seeing him on the policits show looking very unwell. A few weeks later he had passed.
He will be missed. The City owes him a tribute. I owe him thanks.
RIP Tony Wilson.
