Default When is Pete Doherty going to be jailed for good

BBC NEWS | England | London | Doherty in drugs offence arrest

Why dont they just jail this idiot and throw away the key ?

At it again with Drugs, how much public money has been spent on him?

What makes him so special, and why do people seem to like him?

Kill him - take his money and give it to single mothers in Liverpool - everyone wins

They should just lock him in a room with 1/2 tonne of coke for an hour and then call the undertakers.

If you don't want any public money to be spent on him then putting him in jail isn't the answer - that would cost us a fortune.

Just leave him alone. If there's no evidence he's supplying anyone, just leave him to it. Stop wasting time arresting him - it's clearly doing no good and just keeping him in the spotlight.

He's a grown man, he knows the risks and he can make his own choices.

The only person he's killing is himself.

He has obviously got some real problems. He is going to end up in prison, I cannot see ay other outcome for him.

Hopefully it will go some way to sorting him out and he can get back to performing to the same standard he was 3-4 years ago. Recently he has been absolutely awful, mainly because he can't stand on stage, let alone sing.

Yes, but if he's driving around stoned out of his face, surely it's our responcibility to protect the public from this complete ****.

I get annoyed with any celeb who breaks the law yet keeps their job...
Pop stars getting arrested for drug abuse, sportsman drink driving, assaulting cabbies, racial battery outside nightclubs and all is fine...
Yet an athlete takes nightnurse or the likes and is humiliated and banned from the sport they love...
The morals of certain industries are in tatters... Docherty and Winehouse etc just need to be locked up in a cell for 6 months on cold turkey at their expense followed by no record label in the world being able to re-sign them when they return with their entire back catalogue being deleted also.

Brian Harvey admits to taking E's 10 years ago and the nation went mental and the greatest boy band of all time ever went down the pan. Docherty and Winehouse inject heroin and get media attention of a far more positive light...

Oooo it makes me vexed

If he was driving Im sure they would have made that clear in the report. I think, thankfully, he was just a passenger.

You want to pick up a copy of the mrs's heat magazine once in a while.
Some of the so-called writers in there actually right stuff like ' Pete is so dreamy, i'd marry him in a second if I could!'

Fair point - and if they'd arrested him behind the wheel I'd completely agree - in the same way that drinking is fine as long as you don't drive when you're drunk.

If he was in his flat getting stoned off his face then leave him to it.

Also, can't help thinking he's being victimised a little - isn't it generally harder to find a rock star who's not on drugs....?

There's no room in the prisons as they are all full of motorists who were caught speeding

Well, horses for courses. I think he is an incredibly talented individual. But like so many before him, it seems he is doomed to waste that talent

As I've said in countless other SN threads on this subject

Have a quick flick through your CD collection, list your favourite artists, then see just how many of them have absolutely NO drug dependency issues at all....

My guess is that there wouldn't be many

He could at least be a little more stylish about it like Aerosmith.....or Nikki Sixx (found in a dustbin in London!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I'm not exactly the biggest fan of drugs but two of my favourite songs are 'inspired' by a certain Mr Sixx's habit!

the mind boggles at the beaurocracy of the legal system in the UK.

so he was out on bail for a crime then commits the same crime on bail and gets let off becyuse he wasn't processed in time?

What if he was arrested on a saturday night? are they going to drag a judge out of bed on a sunday to process him??? I don't think so.

Well it is clear then if you get arrested make sure it is on a saturday night then they can't have you up in front of the beak until Monday morning so your 24 hours is up and you walk free due to a legal technicality.

Right I am off to plan an armed robbery for next saturday night any one want to join me

Short of murder you get bail in the UK, it is just madness, as for him getting put away this has now gone way beyond a joke, more bad excamples of british justice(or lack of it), UK (***) law and how to get around it.

I "think" you will find that the reason he was released because they did not process his "breach of bail" (simply being in London!) in time. I don't think that the same would apply to a more serious crime.

As for the suspicion of drugs possession any substances seized would have to be analysed first and given past form I doubt that the quantities involved would merit a remanding in custody until they had been analysed and proved to be what we all know they were. It was the police who messed up, nothing to do with the fact he is a celebrity or leads some kind of a charmed life.

For what its worth I saw him perform on Saturday at the V festival and he does seem to be making some progress in at least reducing his drug intake, it was a pretty good performance and believe me I've seen some bad ones.
