Default Satallite broadband

I live in an area where the fastest connection I can receive is 0.5 meg. Does anyone have any experience of satallite broadband?

I do, using it now. We live in Spain and it's very popular here because of the terrain. You can have problems from time to time, normally weather issues like thick cloud and VOIP can have latency (delays) but on the whole pretty good. We have 2Mb connections and pay 39 Euros a month...about £25.

Hello

Satellite broadband is okay but slow. You get great contiguous down speed but any requests take a long time to make.

So downloading a large file from, say, Microsoft is pretty good. General web browsing is a little painful, torrents are awful. This was my experience from a couple of years ago when I was playing with the technology, it may have changed but I doubt it.

Yep a bit crap really. A few of our customers at work have "had" Satellite broadband but they also found it slow and when possible moved to normal land line ADSL.

As already said, general browsing is where you notice the difference (slower) and you often get latency delays.

Thanks for your comments. I was rather hoping you would all say it was fantastic and would solve all my problems. One day soon.....maybe
