I just bought myself a new 42" LCD for the new house! ![Luxhello](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/luxhello.gif)
Bring on the high def now. Is Sky HD worth getting? Are movies available in HD or is it just sport?
This is the tv I got: TOSHIBA LCD Television 42C3030DB - QED-uk.com
Should be here tomorrow! If you register for their email at the top then you get 5% off your order!

Sky HD is lovely. It ranges from absolutely stunning, to not very special, depending on the broadcast.
You get 2 sports channels, 2 movie channels, 2 box office channels, Sky One HD, BBC HD, National geographic, discovery amongst others. And it's just going to increase - BBC will have 100% of programming available in HD by 2010.
I have a Xbox 360 and a PS3 for HD games, and of course the PS3 for BluRay, which is absolutely stunning on my 1080p set.

Well, we got Sky HD, and I have to say, there is not a great choice of channels.
That said, I do find the quality of the HD stuff to be excellent. There are three discovery type channels, and I find myself watching alot of that. The sport doesn't appeal that much, but Wimbledon was excellent, as was the USPGA golf.
The films can be a bit hit and miss in HD, some look much better, some not much better at all.
I'm glad I got Sky HD, but I suppose you have to think about how much you will actually watch of it for £10 a month.
Geezer

I just recently changed to sky + and multiroom. Was gonna go the hd route, however the friendly sky person actually recommended that I didnt as the programming isnt really the greatest at present. They did say that in a yr or 2 prices will change (regarding the box) and more programmes will be available. This was confirmed by the engineer who came out as well

Sky HD is not worth it at its present time, unless you want to fork out the extra for the sports and movies. Haven't been any new channels announced for ages. Its best feature though is the HDD recording like Sky+, it's so easy to record stuff.

I'm waiting for more channels to come out before I will subscribe to Sky HD - a tenner a month is a bit steep for what you get at the moment - plus theres the initial outlay on the HD box as well. The 360, which I mainly got the HDTV for, is awesome though !!

If you are going to spend a grand or more ona screen, it seems silly to me not to spend an extra £10 a montyh to get as much as you can out of it. If you are going to stick to standard def for the forseeable, then there is no point in buying a HD screen as the SD picture won't be as good as your old CRT.

I've got it and even though the channels are limited the clarity is amazing. The outlay for the box is steep (try ebay for cheaper ones?) but £10/month isn't really a big deal is it? Thats the same as 3 pints of Stella!
