Was it as loud as it sounded on the live feed ?

Not as loud as on TV as I am in Kissimmee - The Booms had bled into each other a bit by the time they hit but it was still very noticable.

I like the way the shuttle chuffs like a steam train after landing - I assume it's the APU's doing this ?

Bit annoying on BBC's coverage with the news bint repeating the bit about the de-orbit burn over and over again. The shuttle was cruising in at 17,000ft on final approach and she was still prattling on "and it's upside down flying backwards over the indian ocean now - remarkable" - then "oh it seems to be the right way up now".

Not 100% sure but I think it was the orbital manouvering thrusters near the tail still thrusting, they briefly cut to a thermal imaging shot a couple of times and you could see puffs of heat.

Though why they should be doing that while it was parked I have no idea...

Not 100% sure either, but I think they may be venting that nasty fuel they use in them ?
