It's a mordern version of an old bodywork technique. The version I've seen used is oxy-acetylene torch and cold water, but the technique is the same: shrink the expanded metal. Won't work on all dents, but will for some.

Makes sense ..... heat up, then rapid freeze contracts metal - will snap some dents out

was just wondering whether "technique causes any dommage to paint", but then the subtitles answered my question

I knew a bodyshop man a good few years ago-ex Rolls Royce.

He used to heat a bad dent up to red heat and then bang it on each side with wooden mallets. When he had finished the job you could not see where the damage had been.
