Default Decided on an LCD, but where to buy ?

I dont normally ask banal questions like this, but since everyone else does, why the hell not
Have chosen the model I want
Samsung Samsung LE40N87BDX but I need to know who is doing the best deals around right now. I also am staggered by the cost of the bloody HDMI cables..£60 for a cable

So I need best place to buy, best all in deal and in stock.

cheers for any help..

Try kenable - for cables, networking and peripherals for cabling - miles cheaper than anywhere I've seen.

Find the best deal you can in the shops, and get John Lewis to price match it, you'll then get the tv with a 5 year warranty included for free. It needs to be available at the price you give them in another shop, so online deals won't do.

miff13..yes was thinking of that. trouble is these bloody match and compare deals have to be so bloody precise and on the day, that its sometimes more effort than really needed. however good suggestion and i will try it.

If you're a member of Costco they may have that model in, have some cracking deals and great return policy!

Hi,

I got the best del on Amazon on a 32" Samsung LCD, well i could have got it for around a tenner cheaper but i did not know the company so went with one i know and trust.

Saved around £ 170.00 over high street prices that way

I looked on Kelkoo and came up with Amazon in the end.

Got a brilliant deal on an LG LCD from Richer Sounds a while back.
Not some huge cinema style thing but it's a brilliant TV for those who want a flat screen to be subtle (can put it anywhere!) rather than have the biggest screen in the neighbourhood.

That is the set I got, most impressed, got it from www.beyondtelevision.com , the best price I found and got a nice stand with it too.

Make sure you get the proper settings for it though, or it will look terrible.

There is a thread on AV forums about it, or if you just do Google search for that set you can get them from a review site.

I'd say 27" as a max for LCD IMO

Anyhoo, checkout Electrical Appliances | EmpireDirect.co.uk ...electrically unbeatable to see what they have on offer.

(and if you happen to go in-store, have a drool on a Pioneer Plasma )

Another vote for John Lewis - I bought a 37" Toshiba LCD there about a year ago and they price-matched for me + got the 5yr warranty.

I found the staff very helpful - av forums also was excellent in the price-match discussions - JL's Trafford shop was price-matching against a local competitor so all I done was phoned up JL in Glasgow and told them this, and they said they would price match their Trafford store. Ordered the telly over the phone and went in to pick it up 3 days later.

Oh, I also used Home - cable-shop.co.uk Hifi Cables including HDMI Cables for the cables for the Playstation, HDMI etc - the guy who runs the shop was good for advice for a novice like me - steered me away from all the expensive stuff which he didn't need to do.
