Sony has sunk billions into its Cell processor, and Microsoft a similar amount on its entry into the market and push into the online space, while Nintendo has spent less than $5.50 for a sensor which has transformed gaming for many.

Just because it appeals to a wider range of people (5-95 year olds) does'nt mean it is a better machine.
Toyota sell the most cars in the world, does that mean their cars are the best in the world? Hmmm toyota corollas
I own an Xbox 360 and a wii and the wii is in no way is it better than my Xbox 360.

Regardless of personal choice over what we think is the best, Nintendo has completely out manouvered the other Two this time in terms of sales (3 to 1 outselling PS3 in Europe and 6 to 1 in Japan) and revenue. Nintendo makes money on every Wii, every Ds anfd every game for each that is sold. Even if the other Two started selling more they'd still be losing money on each unit.

My PS2 has sat unused in a cupboard for the last two years, and I never even considered buying a PS3 or an Xbox. But I bought a Wii last month and I've played games on it almost every day since.

There is no doubting their success, and the financial facts are even more amazing.
They are now the 5th most valuable company in Japan, bigger than companies like Honda and NTT Docomo - an achievement in itself and worldwide that makes them bigger than global companies like Coca-Cola.

Honda are pretty small though 
I have played with my Wii everyday since I bought it. The games are not cerebral but they are interactive in a whole new way.
My couch potato games on PS2 have remained unplayed and Wii Sports gets hammered everyday.
I even think I am a little fitter as I play full out

Maybe my maths is out but that makes Coca Cola just a tad bigger than Nintendo!

Nintendo thought ouside the box when they came up with the Wii; rather than focus on processing power, they came up with an ingenius interface (even if it is re-invented).
Resident evil on Wii just brings it to another level.

I got my wii in May and it's still taking a beating and we have only ever bought 3 games for it.
Wii sports is more addicitive than the smell of 2 stroke
And to take it forward, I recently bought Tiger Woods Golf... We got Wii play too but that's not all that really.
It has transformed my gaming world, sober or drunk
Sure, lads nights in are all about the wii now and it is a hoot But last night when m'lady was preparing tea, it was a choice of an ancient re-run of the simpsons or a blast on Wii sports tennis
I would never have considered buying a normal console and spending hours of a sorry life playing platform or war games, save that for the geeks and kids...
The wii is fantastic. Big thumbs up from me

I heard a news report on the Radio the other day about the Wii and the Head of Nintendo UK said they are fully aware that the games line up can currently be improved considerably and they are working on that. Add to that the the online capability is being heavily worked on with the football game being the consumer test then there is still a hell of a lot to come from the Wii and its only at a very early stage for games line up.
If they make Wii Sports 2 and give it online capability and expand on the freebie version you got with the Wii then that will be a massive seller for Nintendo.

Well we've just loaded some old gamecube games... read that they could but were a but sceptical... disc size etc ..but it was ok downside... they cant be used with the Wii remotes, but it opens up the games arena for the kids (us ) (rezi 4 as well )

They like a bit of fantasy violence and occasionally they wrestle with each other but they do know the difference, they are growing up in a loving home, go to decent schools and we know where they are at all times. We monitor what they are watching and playing.
They arent allowed Grand Theft Auto or anything like that, I play it for a while, the missus checks it out and then we decide whether we have seen anything unsuitable, same with films, unless its a kids one, we watch it first. They prefer stuff like Halo to the Wii stuff though they do play that, usually when there is a few of them round, we avoid the real violence and allow stuff like Halo as its aliens and not too gory or realistic.
The problems I think when kids are left to their own devices and can get hold of really nasty stuff, plus I think there needs to be some mental issues anyway.
The kids over the road can be a right nasty little sadistic get, yet he is only allowed really lame baby games on his pc.
