Default If I dump Virgin, where should I go?

At the moment we have Virgin broadband, TV and phone.

The service is awful, the TV constantly freezes, and the broadband is slow, has it's tech support abroad with people who I can't understand, and costs 50p per minute now, as against NTL's 25p per minute.

I've just rung them to send someone to look at the TV and the girl tells me that if there's no-one home when they call there's a £10 charge. I said when did that come in, and she reckons it's alweays been.

What a buunch of useless gits.

So.............if I do give them notice, what packages are available and at what cost?

I've had to call them out and they mention the £10 charge (and someone over 18 has to be in) but they didn't turn up (problem was solved though) so i wonder if they would pay me £10 for waitng all day?

I think the quality of service from most of the companies that offer these bundle deals are pants.
When I was looking for a new isp not many people had a good word to say for orange, talk talk, ntl, virgin, sky...

pimmo2000 on here works for NTL/Virgin and does his best to help but have to agree that ever since Virgin took over i've had more problems with internet and tv.

Back on topic my mate uses BT (just for internet) and is happy with them

alcazar, trust me.... do not, i repeat do not go with bt if your anywhere near scunny.

i had problems with an internet connection for months on end. had 2mb connection which ran slower than a 56k for most its life.

complained, several engineers out, nothing done. in the end i rang up, got through to someone quite high up manager wise, and told them in no uncertain terms to "go get fu*ked, your service is shi*, you should be ashamed of yourselves".

i awaitined their reply, and had ther connection swiftly cut off.

went to virgin media, and havent had one problem since connecting months ago.

best of a bad bunch imho. but virgin have been excellent with me thus far.

I got Orange BB with my phone.

Had 2 instances of having to call their helpline. Yes it took some time and yes the dude was Indian but on both occasions the conversation lasted a few minutes and they sorted the little issue very quickly.

Never had downtime and after some fiddling I can even get my wireless box to share prawn via torrents. win win IMO.

Yeah they will. Well assuming you get the UK. When I started the speal was If your not home when a tech calls you'll be charged £10 but if the tech doesn't show you'll get £10 credited to your account!

Virgin stopped that.

TV and phone issues I'm not great with, BBI is my area, although I'm no longer on the phones I've moved to networks so I have more tools to try and assist.

I have to say though, I will help anyone who PM's me, but I wont access any accounts, give out any information or change any passwords. Its not worth losing my job over.

Seriously though any issues, even if its a customer service complaint, I'm more than happy to help !

Yip Pimmo was the first to offer help.

Haven't had any joy from V/M regarding our pants internet connection (which is still a bit iffy) but Pimmo offered help. He said he didn't do anything and I don't care - it's the fact that a total stranger offered help, I paid 25p per minute to call 'Sarah' in India who didn't give a toss!

It often doesn't matter what is done, it's the fact that the offer is there!

I'm not sure how to take that.

I mean if you have an issue with someone on the phone, being rude or just not helpful, I will follow it up best I can without (again) going into your account.

If required I would be willing to log a complaint for you.

Thanks for the nice replies.

End of the day you people pay my wages and I've progressed within VM because I am willing to go out of my way to help.

We all share a passion and I know how annoying it is having to fight your way to get support.

If I dont know the answer I will find out ! and I dont charge

(as you'll see from the PC help forum I do try)

I binned Turdgin media in April after months of problems, their customer service IS the worst I've ever dealt with! I'll never go back to them, nor will I ever use or trust a Virgin branded service, ie mobile phones etc.

I now have Sky for telly, and BT for t'internet and fone, not had a problem yet, Internet is far faster too so from me

Finally after months of moaning and complaints, got my ISP to run a line check..

All the "your only capable of running a 1 mb line" crap was finally blown wide open, when they came back and admitted i have a 3.5mb capable line..

suffice to say, the upgrade is now programed for the next few days
