Exclamation Policing in the UK - some common sense at last

BBC NEWS | UK | Police 'bogged down by red tape'

I am sure NL will claim that this was/is their idea anyway.

Quote
"Police officers in England and Wales are bogged down in red tape and afraid to use their own judgement, the chief inspector of constabulary has said.
In an interim report, Sir Ronnie Flanagan said forces would "over-record and under-deliver" for fear of missing something or being criticised.

And he said "excess bureaucracy" must be cut to free up police time."

Well said Ronnie - i just hope somthing is really done about it not just another sound bite.

Sounds like he's hit the nail right on the head. And I'm encouraged that the home secretary is taking note of it too.

Anyone read Wasting Police time by 'PC David Copperfield'? Tells you everything you need to know about what's going wrong.

Sounds like pretty much common sense to me.

If they abolish police targets too , I'll be happy.

Not that that's going to happen.

I think they should aim to abolish 50% of police targets by 2011.

Policing has gone **** up in this country, there seems to be more of a focus on Minor crimes commited by Jo-public than genuine repeat offenders because there is financial gain to be made from Jo-public and repeat offenders just create costs and papper work.

I doubt any recommendations will be carried out as the Police have this little saying, "Best Practice" So even if the goverment say "OK, you don't have to do........." The Management will just say it still best practice to over record than have to worry about under record.
Really pi55es me off, to the degree that i have considered resigning numerous time

Oh it's been said for ages, I'd like to believe that Mr.Cameron would sort something out if he got into powere like he's been bangin on about. But, the reality is is that nothing will change. People are too scared of getting sued and **** now
