This is scandalous. Not only will there be more women drivers on the road, but they will use up to double the country's current consumption of oil, meaning there will be less for the rest of the world and our petrol prices will rocket.

Correspondents say the demand is likely to be rejected, as conservatives argue if women are allowed to drive, they will be able to mix freely with men.
