... something that required the attention of the emergency services.
An assault, a fire, a crash etc.
Would you stop and help, report it, or drive on?
Do you feel as a member of the public, you have a duty, or responsibility to assist in such matters.
Just curious following some of the recent threads, so a poll..

I have called the police, fire brigade and ambulance service on occasion. If I could see that no one else was there, of course I'd help.
I did once call the fire brigade because a motorcycle was alight on a play area, but because I couldn't give them an actual address - it wasn't near a road - they said they wouldn't come out. I got so frustrated I put the phone down on them. They didn't seem that bothered anyway.

I have had to call the police through my line of work a couple of times due to abusive behaviour. Took over an hour for them to come both times and we're right in the town centre. Luckily on one occasion there were a couple of army guys in and they were much more use ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
A PCSO comes in every now and then, nice bloke.

LOL
The Crash was on the M6 at Stafford late night driving back from Bristol
one fire was the phone box on the corner of the street when I lived in Stoke
the other fire was the field at the side of my house
one burglary was 3 doors down, the other was in Stoke
Hit n Run was in Wigan
and when I knocked someone over it was the Elephant & Castle roundabout in London

OK to list a few....
House collapsing next door. Reponse time about 5 mins
Serious RTA on A217 (Sutton) response time from 5-10 mins for all 3 EMS to be on scene
Serious RTA on A3, just outside Guildford, response time 10 mins due to location
Attempted suicide on my road, response time 5-10 mins
Man in Thames, fallen off bridge, response time 5-15 mins for police, police boats and ambulances to be on scene.
Break in's of schools, factories etc when working security, responses usually within 15 mins.
Firearms incident last week, response time 5 mins (unmarked) 15 (Trojan)
Assault in house (domestic) response 10-15 mins
Mother found unconcious ambulance response time 10-15 mins, always seems longer when its someone you car about.
Fatal motorcycle RTA on chelsea bridge, response time 10 mins Met, 10 mins LAS 45 mins military police (to ID dead soldier)
Assault on girlfriend carrying newborn daughter response time 30 mins
RTA and decamp in Streatham response time 5 mins
Pub fight in Battersea, response time 10 mins
Repost of man weilding 2 axes, slightly crazed, in Battersea. response time 3-5 mins (amazing take down too)
Always waited on scene at any incident. RTA's always do a primary check of the scene, and victims. Make vehicles as safe as poss, and help co-ordinate people stopping and willing to help.
Worst memory, falling over crossing the carriageway of the A3 in pitch dark, dropping my phone and rolling onto my back straight into lane 1. 999 operator was VERY worried I had been hit by a car.
Scariest moment, realising I was in a building with intruders, with no back up.
Angriest moment, seeing 2 PC's drag an RTA victim from a car, and lay her on a 45 degree embankment, when I was sure she had a busted pelvis.
Saddest, watching a man die on his motorbike, and see him lay there dead for over an hour, while waiting to give statements etc (yes he had a blanket over him)
Regardless of the incident, I always feel I personally can do something to help, but am disgusted when you watch people turn away, ignore things, and walk away.

I've stopped and helped before, and would do so again.
Bloke I know stopped and helped at a serious RTA in Bristol a few years back. He's a medic in the Army so got everything organised while EMS were on the way. Afterwards the guy who was injured checked out of hospital after giving a false name, the guy who hit him gave false details too, and both cars were unregistered. A few days later the bloke gets a call on his mobile as he's the only person who gave real details, and is told he's going to be charged for the ambulance since he called it (do they realy do that or is he making it up?!), as the EMS are unable to contact anyone else involved.
He told them to go fvck themselves and he's drive past next RTA he saw, they apologised and 'let him off' after that.

Absolutly NOTHING to do with the emergency services.
Work for Fedex in an office at the mo, have for 7 years.
Before that 6 years doing mobile security (lots of night driving)
Just seem to have a knack for finding myself in the middle of things.
2 others..
Saw a 7.5 tonner reversing over a moped, then hit 3 cars, then drive off with the moped owner giving chase.
Followed truck, on phone to police, monitored to Streatham, where I spotted a marked car, mad myself known, hopped in and chased on blues. Stopped and he was arrested. Bizarely he was asked to drive his own truck to the police station.
In court a month later, I found out following a road rage incident, the moped rider attacked the truck driver with a hammer, truck hit the said vehicle fleeing the scene in fear of his life.
1am, heavy rain, fiesta ploughs into a parked car (brand new one) then reverses away. Before the days of mobiles lol, called the police, police found the car, driver arrested for DUI (been responsible for 5 DUI arrests now
)
Turned out to be the sister of the local mob family, so the court case was VERY interesting. Even stranger, I actually gre up with the family. Eeek!
Oh, and all this is not mentioning the dozens of stops and eventual arrests while working in retail for 6 years lol And I mean a LOT of those, again, some very interesting ones.

lolI have had one roll across my bonnet as I turned into a side road. Was running for a bus and could not stop.

Another example of the good guy getting crap for doing something good.

His Neice was just getting off the bus as it happened and saw everything, plus around 20 or so other witnessess saw it happen too, and they all told the police and ambulance etc that he was an idiot and should have used the subway underneath
