Are Burger King going bust ???
Three sites in Leeds have closed down in the last 6 months I really hope not. I don't eat fast food often, but I prefer BK to the woeful alternative

My wife went to the one in Halifax and it was run by some asian blokes and they were serving some sort of burgers but everything on the menu was blacked out...to be honest it was the best burger Ive had for a long time.

the one next to me closed down a few months after i complained about them
reminds me i should really use the vouchers i got for the free meals
the one next to me wouldn't take the "buy one get one free" whopper vouchers that were printed in the press claiming they had no whoppers left
sent off a quick letter to customer services complaining (how the hell can burger king not have any whoppers left????) got the vouchers, next thing you know the sites been closed down!

Most of the Burger King's in the UK are franchised and generally run badly from what I've seen.

They are all moving over here BKs are opening up all over the place here. However our McDonalds closed as it was crap, had to be the worst MDs I have ever been to. One and only time I have had grease running out of a Big Mac.

Yup franchise, very competetive area. Very easy to let a business fall through if its not run correctly and in the wrong location. And the big brand such as BK aren't obliged to help them out. Unless they see it as profitable in the future where they may take it over.
On the flipside. McDonalds had to completely pull out of Columbia after their venture failed miserably. BK on the otherhand are thriving over there

Just as another point... A few Maccy's have closed down round SE London after not having leases renewed etc due to the anti social behaviour they attract.
One of the people who owns a few round my way has pulled out of about 3-4 locations from pressure from locals and problems keeping the venture ticking over due to the nightly inhabitants of their stores.
Got so say, since the local Maccy's went, most of the trouble has gone with it. A few hang out around the local Morleys now, but on a far lesser scale.
McDonalds with a bus stop outside just seems to be a bad combination.
Oh and best McDonlads for me was Abu Dhabi lol Chicken BigMac.. mmmmmmmmm!
BK rules it for me though, Maccy's sucks in comparison.

I enjoy the theory of a nice BK Burger but sadly they don't generally exist. They employ the people that MacDonalds rejects from what I've seen. They are just so thick it's unbelievable. And then the food is usually ruined because of that or because it's sat there for 10 minutes going cold.
Mind you it's a similar thing with Macdonalds. In most of Asia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore etc they usually cook the burgers as you order so they actually come to you piping hot, the fries are generally cooked to perfection (not burnt or cooked in old oil or too salty etc) and you get decent service.

There used to be a BK in Tonbridge and one in Tunbridge Wells, but it appears they have both now closed. The TW one was known for being a bit crap to say the least, and people used to travel to the one in Tonbridge. There also used to be a McDonalds near five ways in TW, but that has since closed, and I suspect it is quite possibly due to the chav element. I have a feeling it could well be due to the rather posh restaurant that was nearby and having your clients looking out to see chavs "havin it large" whilst you eat dinner isn't that appealing.
BK and Maccy's over here can be just as bad as the UK, but there are also other choices here, such as Harveys, Licks, Wendys, and a fair few independant places, for example Apache Burger, which have some trully excelent burgers. The US has even more choice with Checkers, Jack In The Box, Hardee's (mmm, thickburgers), and others.
