Red Arrows 2012 petition
Outrageous
Can't find this elsewhere on here so:
The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed "too British".
Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be "offensive" to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team "too militaristically British". Red Arrows pilots were said to be "outraged", as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being "too British" is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain.
The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world.
The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular.
It is to be hoped that common sense prevails

Agreed - things like this really get on my goat. Signed - don't know if it will make any difference, but at least we can make our feelings known.

About what though? I mean why not create a petition decrying the fact that the govenment is going to make it illegal to eat roast beef? Of course it's complete nonsense, but that doesn't seem to stop anyone else.

I'm going to call shenanigans on the reason for the petition. If it really were the case then I think the majority of the media would have picked up on it, not just the tabloids.
I can see how a display may not be allowed on the grounds of safety as I think most of the major venues would be in urban environments and if something went wrong with the display the resulting crash could cause many injuries.

Extra suspicious peeps I see
Better safe than sorry- I'd rather sign than have Stealth PC labour squeeze this through because I thought it was a joke.

I'm not sure whats more stupid? Creating the petition, signing the petition or emailing the petition to your friends?
Can't they take the list of all signatures and shoot them on the grounds of being sheep? (obviously real sheep are welcome to launch a petition to be regarded as mental superior to these idiots and therefore excluded from the cull)

I think it was more to do with a display of miltary aircraft, god forbid having anything military in Britain.
If we didn't we'd all be goose stepping about, saying 'Heil' and munching Bratwurst all day.
