It is national stupid day or something?
Did I miss the announcement?
BBC NEWS | UK | Flown-in organic food rule change
Organic food, right, is food, that is grown organically. Thats why its cvnting well called organic food.
It's got nothing to do with fair trade or climate change
It doesn't matter if it has been grown by a military junta using naked amazonian slaves, and then flown round the world 17 times in jumbo jet, and hand delivered by drivers using Bugatti veyrons.
If you must have some sort of labelling system where you define how produce is delivered (although I think we can safely assume that produce grown in South America hasn't gotten here by ****ing bicycle) then fine.

It's kind of inter-related, the sort of people who like their veggies fertilised with raw sewage rather than a sanitised version are also the ones going on about global warming an fair trade. Personally I think the bacteria in the horse dung is affecting their brains

The soil assosciation are soiling themselves because now organic food is everywhere and their hold on the marketplace is slipping. This is just their pitiful way of trying to justify their existence.
As you say Pete, organic is organic... Simple as...
If the silly soil assosc want to introduce other guidelines to make themselves feel worthwhile then fine, but not by trying to move non moveable boundaries about what is or is not organic.

But chairman Brian Wilson said: "Unless teleportation becomes viable in the next few years there is no other alternative for them to get their fresh produce to market in good time."

I love the quote: "One of the things we assume this will do is eliminate the casual use of air freight".
Assume? You mean, you've done no research and are just making a knee-jerk rule change?
Idiots.

These damm environmentalists won't be happy till the world goes back to the dark ages.
No modern conveniences like cars boats or planes let alone anything that runs on electricity... We will all have to travel by horse or donkey.
People dyeing of food poisoning as there won't be any refrigeration units and medicines will be non existent.
All trade will have to be limited to within 1 days travel by foot or horse & cart.

"environmental charity promoting sustainable, organic farming and championing human health."
from the soil Soil Association website, so it's not just about the drugs and pesticides.
p.s. organic farmers can still use drugs/medicines, but only for "animal welfare purposes" and that comes with very long withdrawal periods.
