Hi Folks,
Don't know if many/any of you are using Virgin Media Broadband with a news server, but I'm having major slow down at the moment when downloading using Newsdemon servers. I used to download at 450 KB/s regularly, but recently only getting between 60KB/s & 130KB/s. Not sure if it was VM throttling the connection, but when I try a speed test on various sites, it shows my 4Mb connection running at full speed. Any ideas? I just cant understand why it would drop by so much?

I'm sure it makes no difference if you encrypt your traffic, changing your port may. VM throttle between 7pm and 10pm or something like that. Happened every evening like clockwork, 20mb down to 5mb.

it limit on usage and throttles back between 4pm and midnight if you have downloaded something like 350mb that day. i get it on BTorrent, past midnight and its back up to max connection speeds again. its quite annoying. just do your downloading between midnight and 4pm and your be ok.

4pm to 12am theres a download limit as its "peak" time the limit is 5GB of data download if your on a 20mb line. once you go over you downgraded to 5mb a line. which lasts for 4hours then after that your back up to 20mb.
i use giganews now after trying others i find it best you can download at max speed usualy 100% of the time
