It is pretty outrageous. I mean obviously you have to pay to attract the right person - But in a climate of sliding profits, and the recent strikes, it is pretty staggering that Crozier has received this pay deal.

Quick! Get back on strike!
It is a big rise. I presume based on his perceived worth... Now he needs to spend some time sacking those who continued to strike when the strikes werent on. But hang on, that would lead to more strikes...
Oh sod this, I'm off for a coffee!

He's worked hard to get to where he is, how would you feel if a lesser paid person questioned your income
I'm with Abdabz on this
Work harder and earn more for yourself instead of criticising someone successful He took on a tough role at the post office and is trying to save the future of the majority there but the good old british workforce knows best...go on strike and destroy the business completely... nice one, well done

It really is truly sickening when you see something like this. You should not offer small rises to staff, and then reward yourself with a massive pay rise. No human being is worth £1m per year. I don't care who you are, or what you do.
There are many people in this work who do the most amazing work, often entirely for free/mostly unpaid. To turn around and say this chap is worth a lot of cash simply because he is good with finance is utter nonsense.

It is crass in the extreme to underperform and get awarded 26% and then plead poverty when the work force has to strike in order to get an inflationary rise.

In the private sector I would disagree, there are undoubtably people that are worth much, much more than this.
In the public sector (which despite all the confusion, Roayl Mail is still wholly owned by the government) then I would agree that it is an inflated figure - Because the man is not under anywhere near the same pressure as the CEO of a PLC.

If I was the most amazing trader in the city and I made 30million profit for my company every year (which is not unheard of) why wouldnt I be worth a salary of £1million? I'd be stupid not to ask for that. If you love equality so much, move to Cuba

Having said that, a 26% increase for the chief exec is a bit of a joke, especially when the "company" is doing so well...

What he said
Can't people see that the company is in trouble and must change to survive.
Granted his increase is huge but he is the guy who has to take the decisions on who will survive the mess and develop a strategy to help keep the business afloat and so save as many jobs as possible!
Instead of quoting his £239k rise why don't you quote what the business loses every time you have a strike... those numbers might make his rise seem the a drop in the ar*e of a bucket... don't you think!

the people who cant see that things must change, are the people at the bottom of the ladder who are to lazy to try and climb up!
