I'm sure there isn't anything more that you could have done. Hopefully she makes a recovery.

awww buddy, my heart goes out to you. I have an akita, which is 8/9 years old. The breed only lives to 10 or 11 so I know that I too will be going through some nasty times soon. I love my boy, and I will be heart broken.

Fingers crossed your one has a positive operation and has a few more years !!!!

Let us know how it goes matey.

its not quite the same, but i really see what your going through. mine and natalies pet hamster, henry (her idea) has an awful lump on his mouth, and is actually going under anestetic tomorrow morning to have it drained.

it could be a tuma, a spot, an infection allsorts. little guys 11 months old and only cost us a fiver, but shes been in tears tonight a couple of times.

little russian dwarf hamster. even im a little worried to be honest.

best of luck anyways steph

Well a little update from earlier we've fed her and she scoffed it like she normally would so thats quite good she's managing to get to sleep but having so sleep sort of propped up. I'll post a pic tomorrow of her my phone is playing up

As my first pet i had a russian red dwarf called hami only had him a year and he got a tumour and died on me i was so gutted ive had a million since then and still got attatched to them that my mum said i cannot have anymore pets

I hope henry is alot better tomorrow it upsets you with any animal even hamsters to fish

just a warning to everyone please please check your pets for lumps and get it seen by a vet it was lucky we found this one in time or it could have been worse.

Kay sends a lick to everyone to say thankyou

I spent a weeks wages on of one mine, then went to ask how much the biopsy would cost on top....

To be told it was only a fatty lump.... liposuction on a dog !!!

And she's still fat and happy !

Dunx

Good luck and try to enjoy the good times, been through this a few times as I'm very old now....

P.S. I said never again, 'cos I couldn't face walking out with just a lead, so I left it for use with strays etc. Within a week I was buying another (two !)

The fact the Vet operated on her gives hope Steph, as you know my dog had Cancer and was too far gone/ too old to be operated on and he had to be put to sleep in January I'm sure the op will sort her, so chin up babes, I'm sure she'll be fine

All your pets here are rooting for her too

Know how you feel Steph. My dog had a lump for years (we got it checked out as soon as it came up but vet said it was nothing to worry about). Anyway is started to get bigger and another little lump appeared. The vet recommended it was removed. She was 13 at the time. The day she went in was the worst day of our life. She is now 15 and no more lumps and she is still going strong.

Thinking of you both xx

Sorry to hear about her but hope shes making a good recovery and will be OK.

Dogs are right little actors though - ours could model for RSPCA abused dog posters when she goes into a huff because you wont let her do something like bury the remote control or eat cat poo from the garden.

Another get well Kay from me

We had our Boxer in the vets around 8 months ago to have 3 lumps removed from his head. He had one from a puppy but it just got bigger and bigger and another 2 appeared.

Luckily turned out to be cysts - he looked a right mess for a few weeks though, head shaven and lot's of untidy stitches. He literally looked like he'd been in the ring with Nigel Benn !

I'm sure all will be fine but like has been said, keep us informed
