Pete - I stopped 6 years ago and had a massive urge to have one on Tuesday. I bought 10 and by then the urge had gone. Didn't think about them again until I had a pile of beer this evening. Lit one up about an hour ago, two puffs and I fell over- seeing stars and little jaybirds singing. Now i stink like a stinky thing who hasn't washed for a month. I think the basturd jaybirds have **** in my mouth as well. What to do with the other 9? Dump them or will they be OK in 2013?

The constant craving has disappeared - but, I am really surprised that the craving pops up and taunts me after all these years?!
I have to say, however, it was the single best thing I ever did for myself ..... life is so, so, much better being a non-smoker - but, its still tough!

Gave up in 1986 - before that I smoked about 10 Capstan Full Strength a week - most at the weekend.
I became a member of the local lifeboat crew. We were out on a particularly bad "shout" one night in 1996. On the way back a few of the lads lit up. I bummed a *** off the mechanic. It was one of these low tar thingies.
Could I get a hit off it? Could I ****![Razz](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/razz.gif)

I stopped eleven years ago. It really was hard to do in the first pl;ace of course but the defence gets stronger as time goes by.
Luckily I never have any craving now and in fact the smell is terrible really, but you never realise that while you are still smoking.
I could not bring myself to try one now thank goodness, but I bet if I did I could get hooked pretty quickly!

Morning Les .....
I actually love to smell cigars and often follow someone to get that wiff again!!![Lol1](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/lol1.gif)
I smoked cigarettes from the age of 11 to about 25, then went onto cigars until about 35, then it was a pipe!!
I inhaled the cigars and pipe .... so, it was probably worse than the ciggies!!
One thing which helped me quit was cleaning out my pipe metal filter - the gunge, the tar and the goo that was in there was horrible and smelly ....... it was a fraction of what was sitting on my lungs!! THAT is a lesson!!
