Sky+ is £149 + £30 setup fee according to Sky.

HD with Sky+ is £299 + £30 setup fee and an extra £10 a month.

I can't imagine life without Sky+ now, we hardly watch anything when it's broadcast. We record all the stuff we want to watch then watch it when it suits us, also means we can skip through the adverts.

Always worth threatening to cancel or downgrade your package and see what they will do.

It will be a 12month contract and you will need a phone line.

Cheers

The 10 quid charge has been dropped, I'm guessing you could buy a box of ebay and just stick your card in it, you will need a new LNB as well as there are 2 feeds into the box rather than one. You can also add a bigger drive as well - I binned the 40 and put a 250 gig in mine.

Yeah you know it, ad skipping rules, as does watching things on Anytime TV, as there are no ads in that either

As for the HD, I might look into how much upgrading my current + box is, and see if I can move mine into the other room, and put an HD in mine. Really wanna see what this HD is all about. The TV is more than ready for it lol

You could buy one of ebay but becarefull there are loads of Sky+ boxes about with dodgy hardrives and freezing up problems.

If you do by one yourself, change the LNB and run in another cable you will have to ring sky and pair up your card with the Sky+ box to receive Sky+ functionality.

That's what I did.

Put the HD box in the lounge and had our Sky+160 box put in the Bedroom.

The Sky HD box also upscales standard definition channels and outputs them via HDMi so even standard channels look loads better than the Sky+ box on a scart lead did.
A lot of the HD programes are DD 5.1 as well.

Cheers

I have one as well but they are nothing like as good as Sky+ with EPG, Series Link, recordings same quality as live etc. etc. Sky+ is just so easy. I only ever use my HDD/DVD recorder to run something off for someone else.

Yep,

Full Sky package £45, HD £10, Multiroom £10, Broadband £10, Skytalk £5.

£80 a month before any box office films/sport or additional phone calls.

Can I just jump in on this as well
been toying with the idea of Sky+ for a while

I ahve the standard Sky and have done for quite a few years, about 5 i think.
Have a decent package, everything bar the premiership, costs me £40 a month

So roughly how much would I need to expect to fork out for the Sky+ service and would I need a new box ??

also what the hell is the LNB bit ??

new box .YES (plus box has twin tuner and hard-drive in)
LNB . thats the block on the end of the arm of the dish.. and you would ,as std have a single block on and would need to have it changed and more cable run between the dish/lnb and box.. and YES would also need a telephone connection to even if youve been a customer for donkeys years

When we got Sky+, it was £49 for the box and installation, and we got the multi room, so they moved the standard box from the sitting room, into my bedroom.

Don't know what the LNB bit is about.

The monthly cost is the same as it was, except the £10 for the multi room.

and where the hell are all the deals?

It is the same cost to get sky + if you are an existing and loyal customer or just a new one

not exactly an incentive

lots of 'meetings' been taking place with groups of techs/engineers .. to feed back up the chain the issues we have at/on the coalface as it were.. one of the biggest bugbears is the loyalty issue
