Default How do I stop these reverse pay text messages??

Hi all,

Please someone help me. I keep getting these text messages that are charging me £1.50 a time. Thats me receiving them.

I've checked my bill and they are recorded as premium text messages so my service provider can't find out who their from.

I've signed up to a few web sites that they recommend to stop marketing texts and calls but I'm still getting them.

I've got no number to text back and say stop, because the txts are web links, and I tried go on line to find the web address and it doesn't exsist.

The only option I can think of is to get a new number but I've had this number for nearly 15years, why should I have to change dam it.

I really need some help it's costing me £20 a month extra at the moment.

I had the same on my phone for ages.
In the end I just replied with STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE and they stopped.
Be sure to do it in CAPS as my previous attempts failed

Thanks guys, thing is the text messages I'm getting are web links. Their not normal text messages.

When I open them the only three options availble to me is open URL, delete, and details. basically I can't reply stop, and I can't reply at all.

^ Not great advice.

It's not the service providers problem, that the OP signed up for something.

I look after 600 mobiles and you'd be suprised how often we get this problem......"oh I remember now, I requested the scored to England football games" and you never read the small print!

His service provider is allowing the text message to get through to his phone. They least they should be able to do is tell him the number that it comes from.

Are you sure they are not "push" messages (google it).

If so you can usually choose an option in your messages setup to never allow push messages...or something similar.

Tried that line and they didn't bit. As someone said its not they fault. I've obvisously signed up for something and not realised.

Thing is I should be able to cancel it, but can't figure out how. I hav googled the links, but unsurprinsly the links can't be obtained over the net, it has to be done via phones,

I have found out who the web address is registered to, but again unsurprinsly he's not answering my messages.

The web link is www.fon.ms and then a laod of different numbers and letters dependant on what sort of link it is.

The links range from "Know the scores", "feeling lonely tonight", "Best tickets in the house" "I'm free tonight" and so on. No one real type of link. Just a load of old poo.

Push messages, what are they?

I've got my service provide to block all new marketing messages, but anyone who has already got my number can't be blocked apparently. I have to contact them and tell them to stop.

That the whole problem though, every method I've been told doesn't work. I'll give Offtel a buzz in the morning. Worth a go.

Had to really badger Vodafone to tell me about two 'bounceback' text message costs recently (they really didnt want to tell me who they were from). Dragged it out of them by quoting OFCOM regs and found it was that it was a local taxi firm.

They send you a text at 35p in lieu of the taxi driver ringing your door bell FFS (can you see any regs obligatory small print about cost?) :

Belled them (yes GREAT use of my time) and mentioned the fines imposed on dodgy TV companes recently, and they promised to get back to me with a refund. They havent. Can I be assed to take it to OFCOM....? No.

However, taking money from you for something you dont want, and didnt ask for is pretty dodgy ground in most businesses... So I promised they will never get a penny from me again for taxis. Short sighted for a business? YES! I sometimes have 6 taxis a week @ £12 a shot if I'm travelling a lot on business... Ohh and I may live another 40 years £72 x 52 x 40 = £149,760. LOL

D

Had this problem myself, i received a message which i naturally opened, this automatically subscribed me to some crap that was costing me £6 a week, no way of stoping it, texed stop back to them but they carried on sending me messages. I typed my problem into google i think, phoned oftel or one of those companys who managed to contact the company for me and stop it, as i had kept my messages to show proof of me sending stop i got a refund, it also showed i had never used the service so my less than impressed girlfriend would talk to me again. Result. Goodluck.
