Default Sony PS3 Help - to buy or not to buy...

Folks,

Scoobynet help required

Ok, now that Call of Duty 4 is due out this weekend, I'm after a PS3.

My only concern is the imminent arrival of a different, updated version next year, that apparently has rumble control or something. According to those in the kow the current 60gig is being phased out to make room for this new version.

Now, will I look like a complete gimp buying the current 60gig one?

Will I be able to use rumble controllers on the current version (assuming of course that I feel the need to?)

Is there anything else, functionality wise, that I am potentially about to miss out on..?

Thanks all

K

I say buy now. The current 60gb models have PS2 backward's compatibility which the future models will not have. Rumble controllers will also work on all PS3 models.

As above.

More likely to look a gimp buying the new (and cheaper) 40GB version

Functionality wise I wouldn't wait but unless you are going to play movies on it I would wait until more top games come out, will probably be cheaper then too!

I've had mine since launch and hardly use it now - just not enough killer games. Its mainly used for movies as my XBox 360 is still a little too loud for optimal viewing.

Getting mine from game to go with my new 1080p LCD, going for the 40gig version at 299 including one game and one blueray film. Not really bothered about playing online and I think the PS3 looks nicer in your living room. And it upscales as well.

Really? So the updated model next year will have 20gb less? Didn't realise that

Anyone with a current PS3 can get rumble through the upcoming 1.94 firmware, and the DualShock 3 controllers out next month (if you can get your mitts on one).

Hope they redesign the triggers though, the current Sixaxis is awful IMHO.
