Default Scousers to get paid to stay off the streets

Cant believe this is happening

upto a 1000 Scouse kids are going to get money every week from the government/council so they can go to the cinema etc to keep them off the streets

They will get a credit card thing that will be topped up with credit, so they can use it to spend on activities like the cinema etc

Why cant their parents pay, or why cant the police keep them off the streets

It seems that there are 9 towns piloting the scheme, where kids will get upto 35 quid a month to stop hanging round on street corners !

what a joke

I think it's worth a try to be fair, could save alot of money and resources and work out quite cheap in the long run. Also it will give some kids the opportunity to see what it's like to have some money and a 'normal' life and make them change for the better.

I don't bloody care if it will save money in the long run - out of principle, I don't want my tax money spent on ridiculous schemes like this.

Edit: If the government want to help, they should help create some after school / weekend jobs IMO, not just handing money out ***** nilly.

They will learn that the state will reward poor behaviour with more handouts for them. The state will pay is their motto. Once spent up they will be back on the streets...

Nearly as clever as the scheme to pay foreign crims to go home for a holiday

It seems to be standard procedure with this load of clowns to try to buy their way out of trouble with our taxes rather than attack the problem at its heart, ie teach them discipline in the first place.

This won't make the slightest difference anyway.

Only in the UK

Maybe if the system was used to reward kids who did community and voluntary work, then I would have no problem.

Giving them free cinema ticket for loitering, is about as stupid as it can get.

So how will they police this so that those that do hang about don't get the money - after £35 isn't going to pay for a film every night of the month

What he said.

If this is true it's a downright disgrace and yet another slap in the face to those of us who work hard and respect other people's property and the law.

Two words to get the kids of the street and instill discipline: National Service.

It's even more absurd than hugging hoodies! The stories just get more and more surreal!
