Thinking off having a bit decking put down in the back corner off the rear garden, triangular size shape- roughly 12 feet one side 12 feet the other and about 16 feet across. planned to have the decking about a foot high with one step up, spindles and rail along the front edge , works out at a total off 42 spindles.
the cost also includes polythene and chips which are being put down under the decking for grass / weed control.
so okay had a good friend price me up the job and was somewhat surprised to find the overall cost was £750, now am not for one minute am I suggesting that this friend is ripping me off !! I know its going to take him a good weekend to complete the job fully and knowing how little he has charged me before for work he has done for us would imagine he is probably taking around £100 for himself which I appreciatte is nothing for two days work, and if I was to get a few quotes from various companies I know it would be a heck off a lot more, but just feel it seems a heck off a lot off dosh for a relativly small area off decking ??!!
had this guy in before and must admitt his work is totally first class, really is a first class joiner and am more than happy to offer him the work but again just feel the cost off the overall job seems kinda high- so okay any joiners / diy guys on here put me right about my price quote ??!!
cheers

Decking is dear. Just as a comparison to your price, look here:
Decking Pack 3.6 x 3.6m - Screwfix.com, Where the Trade Buys
And that's just the deck, not handrail/spindles. You'll get cheaper at a timber yard, but not much.

yep seems a good price. I probably paaid about 600 ish for ground control, subframe brackets/hangers/screws/concrete etc etc andfor just decking, no spindles it is probably similar size and shape.
I got all my stuff from
Doors, Timber and Decking - Savoy Timber, Blackpool, Preston, Wigan

Great stuff mate again appreciatte your advice. dont suppose you have any photos off your finished job do you ?? just looking for a few ideas on how to finish it off ie. garden funiture, lighting etc ?? also I take it even thou the actual decking boards are treated its still best to give the whole construction a good varnish yep ??

I will take a photo tonight (will be dark though so may not get a good site of it) if not will do some in daylight on saturday. I still have a little bit to finish off about 4 boards at the front but it will give you an idea. I will try to dig out my reciepts to get the exact cost

to add, I have a big table set up on mine, and I also have 2 flower bed things, one at the side and one at the back, plenty of room around the table to move around etc. Also have deck lights to put in, wiring is in place under the decking but need to do holes for the lights and then get a part p electrician to put an outside socket in.
My only problem is the dog uses it on her turd run around the garden so quite often we need to hose it down to de-turd it
