The one for Sony Bravia TV, with all the plastiscene figures?

The Stones would be so much better if they hadn't sold out. I can hardly listen to one of their albums without being reminded of some advert or other.

Does that matter though?

Didn't they 'sell out' when they switched from Blues to R&R? If so that was over 40 years ago. They have to be the most commercial band in the World, based upon still touring at their age.

No harm in adverts at this stage of their careers, would help to bring their great music to lots of new, young fans.

I suppose that is the other side of the argument. I still don't like it when really good bands, like the Stones, allow their music to be put to, on the whole, tacky adverts.

Generally I would agree with that.

But I think they are an exception, simply because they are so way past a good new tune or anything like that.

Last good record they did was Tattoo You in 1981 and this is coming from a big fan!

Its interesting too to see their influence in bands like The Charlatans, The Verve (obviously), The Dandy Warhols, and countless others.

Their music is almost within the subconscious, IMO, so adverts is not a big deal.
