lol cheers.

Just curious if people follow the guides or not.
Going for a shorter board this year, as I have shed a fair bit of weight, but some of the guides are WAY off.

Got to buy new clothes too cos I seem to have lost all the stuff I used in Feb.

Snazy, I am. Infact off to Breckenridge 19th Jan

Have been riding for 10 years approx. I ride a burton custom 2/3 years old now. Currently have a 158 (i think) and i'm 6ft (just) and am approx 13 stone.

I love the powder but also like the board park so I find the custom is a good all round board.

What do you ride?

Well, I currently have a 5150 Crux 159 as I was a few stone heavier last year, rode well, but freedom was limited by the size. Im 5' 10" but 200lbs ish

For my height I can get a 147-155, but weight suggests a 165-169 lol.

So im gonna take a gamble and go 153-155 this year.

Running K2 Cinch bindings.
Not sure what im gonna do board wise this year, might get a 5150 again, ok for my level. Found a sweet Burton T6 but its £550. If I ride ok on the 155 I will consider the Burton for Banff in March

That place looks amazing from the outside!

Snazy, it depends on the sort of stuff you normally do and your riding style as well as your weight. A lot of people end up with two of more boards.

165-169

When I last change mine I was riding a 162 i think and I want about 150 as I thought it would be a bit more agile. Tried a 148 and it felt like a friggin small skateboard. In the powder I just sank straight away so ended up getting a bigger one. My advice would be if your used to a longer board make sure you try a smaller one first as the differences are quite surprising.

Enjoy

Cheers guys, will probably take a couple out with me tbh. Couple of sizes wont hurt. Can still take the old Crux I guess lol.

I think flex might have been a bit of an issue for it too, but dont try dont know I guess.
I think I will buy a 155 anyway, and see where I go with it, if its no good, i'll sell it

Not been this light or agile before so gonna be a new experience.

What size you ride now Chop ?

Erm, i was, going again this march for a week. Mainly to see my nipper on the slopes.

I've had plenty of boards as i've done 5 seasons in Chamonix and 2 in NZ, as well as week holidays here there and everywhere.

I now have a Burton Custom 66 or 69, can't remember . Sixty something anyway.

6'3 and 15st. Size 10 feet.

It's one of the best all-round boards!!

I get slight toe overhand, but if you leave off the gas-pedal it's not that bad.

Have had several Burton Customs, getting bigger each time. They really are that good. Will stick with that model.

Depends on what you want to do on the mountain!?!?

Bigger boards are getting lighter and will offer more control and speed.

I once had an Alien Nation '52. That was a fun board. Like riding a mini skateboard.

Well I got the 159 I can take out with me, think I will try a 155. Push comes to shove and I am not happy I will buy a new one out there

Cheers for the info guys. Appears most of us choose to ride slightly smaller than recommended.

As for riding style, nothing amazing, general piste, with some poncing about

55. A baby board.

More speed, stability and control on bigger.

55 would be like a jib board.

You reckon ?
My 159 is ok, just seems a bit unresponsive.
Might be too much flex and thats causing the lack of response I guess

i ve got k2 cinch bindings, had them for the last 2 years, really pleased as they are so easy to put on/take off but still easy to adjust.

i ve also got a ride board, 159 i think but quite stiff and wide, going to choose something with more give this year but keeping the bindings.

I had K2 setp-in bindings the first year they came out, 1996. I thought they were the nuts.

Then when i was trying to clear snow out the bottom to clip in, it became a pain, and the boots were as stiff as ski boots.

Luckily they broke half way through the season and i replaced them with burton customs. The difference was unbelievable. I could walk in the boots properly, had better control ollying and lifting the board, not to mention edge-to-edge control.

No way i'd go back to step ins!!

lol they are like Flows, just a bit more adjustable.
Look them up on youtube and there is a vid of me demo-ing them lol

Look like regulars, but the back drops like flows, but once on you have the adjustment of regulars too.
Or you can use them in regular way too. I love them.

You rate Ride then mate ? I have looked at them, some nice designs out there too. Looking at a nice cheap Volkl at the mo

To be honest mate, my info will be a bit out of date. But i remember the Ride boards to be not that good. I had a friend who was sponsored by them. His boards were breaking left, right and centre, without abuse.

I notice the newer boards, well mine was the start (2003 i think) with carbon strips in them, to increase stiffness.

I got many friends who used to ride with flow bindings, they rated them, and were not bad riders either. But after the K2 (Clicker?) system, i wont be trying anything other than traditionals.

Do you mean the step ins there? no straps ? I cant stand them, tried them once.

Ride have come on a bit now. I fancy spending a bit more on a board, but wanna get my weight settled then mess about with sizes til I find the right matches for me.

I think I will order the Volkl in the morning.
