Question Absent Fathers

Bit of a nosey post, but I wondered what arrangements any of you have in place to see your kids/allow absent fathers to see their kids.

Also, what happens at christmas?

Please can we not have any posts about what bitches/*******s your exes are

Cheers,
Clare

All SN dad's have excellent parenting skills, so I'm not sure you'll get a balanced answer.

Me and the Ex take it in turns to have our lad for Xmas, and birthdays. He is 8 this week and this seems to suit him just fine.

I see mine when I like, my ex and I remain friends, and there are no problems.

Each Xmas is the same, they are with me on Xmas Eve, and wake up on Xmas Day at mine. Then we exchange presents, and I drive them to their Mums for around 10 am, where they stay until Boxing Day morning when I collect them to spend a couple of days at my house.

Every year the same for five years now, no issues.

At this point in time, while her mother plays any part in it... nope
She went off on a crazy wild story, which all gets a bit complex and upsetting. Over the years I have grown numb to the feelings about it, but dont have a day without thinking of Sian.

Xmas together would be amazing, but I tend to not bother with Xmas these days, no child, no point for me.

Might be slightly different in this case, all sounds a bit complex. But absence breaks your heart I have to say. 8 years is a long time. So much wondering, and so little knowledge.

It's a shame relationships are so complicated. Not nice for anyone when things go wrong, especially the kids.

At 13 she could well be on the internet somewhere, and I think you know people with abilities to find personages on internet?

I wonder if somewhere there's a forum where kids can chat about their parents that they don't have any more.

Teenage is the age to rebel against the parent you live with.

Turn up and say "Hi I'm Dad" and she'd probably stab you. But let her find out that parents often lie about the other partner to keep them onside, you might start her brain working.

Just some ideas for you.

EDIT - sorry for hijack. I'm only an absent father when I go to work each morning (or sit on SN in the evening )

its actually quite sad reading this ,suppose its something ive never thought about before as i dont have any kids,i dont know what i'd do if i was in the position some of you are in.Luckily (in a way) my parents didnt divorce till i was 18 so it never really affected myself or my brother that much.It is good that there are still so many that care as ive got friends who have kids and are seperated and take nothing to do with them and its their choice, not their ex's still a crap thing at what should be a happy time of year

I see my kids every other weekend without fail. Christmas time I tend to be up with the kids for a few days, then take them down to my Mums. They are 16 & 13.

The Ex and i split up 8 years ago we get on really well, and are good mates

Exactly mate, and I agree that she may well be out there. Which is why I registered Michael Snasdell years ago, so she can find her daddy when she is good and ready.

Hunting a kid down on the internet however is a dangerous game one would assume.
