xbox360 or ps3

360. My mate has both and hates the PS3 with a passion.
Remember pre-launch when Sony were going on about 1080p being real HD and making a big fuss that the PS3 would support 1080p and the 360 wouldn't? It was one of their big selling points.
Well, the 360 does support 1080p thanks to an update and when you look at the games, most of the recent 360 releases also support 1080p. Now look at all the PS3 games, they DON'T support 1080p.
Plus, there's no decent games yet for the PS3 and what decent games there are, are available on the 360 and play and, arguably, look better (often subjective this one)
It would take more than Bluray to sway me to get a PS3.

Spend the cash and the extra you pay for console games on your PC. Graphics are better and more choice of games.
Or if you have to get a console, I'd take a 360. I think if you have wireless you can stream media from your PC to the 360. Put it in the bedroom and you get a choice of **** or computer games.
BLISS imo.

If you want a machine that doesn't blow up, get a PS3. If you want one with loads of games, get a 360. If you want something that doesn't blow up and has loads if games and is a bit different, get a Wii.
As for the previous post, the new 360s blow up just as well as the old ones. The smaller process ones ain't available yet.
Or alternatively, get a PC. Plays loads of games, cheaper, proper browser and email etc.

360, its been well worth what I paid for it.
I could buy a PS3, have the money there but I don't want one and its not like me to pass up an opportunity to buy a gadget.

Like I said, the new models with updated heatsink and 65nm chip are much more reliable.

In any case, it remains to be seen how reliable the new kit is, it ain't been around long enough yet, the old ones didn't start blowing up for a while

I didn't think the new chips were soley for the elite. I think the vanila models should also have this new chip.
Got to have a look at my nephews tonight. He says it RROD on him last week now won't work at all. Considering he treats everything with utter contempt he's lucky its lasted since xmas 06!

get a ps3 if you like movies without a noise like a jet-engine running in the backround, get a 360 for onlineness and gameplayabilityisation, or if you are single or divorced, get both or get both to become single or divorced.

360 if you like games and/or playing online. I was worried that there would be some exclusives on the PS3 in order to take advantage of the higher spec'd hardware, but it appears that the games developers have decided their rather go for a bigger audience with both consoles (and it's not like the 360 is a bad hardware platform anyway). Indeed some games that were announced or rumoured to be exclusives then came out on both platforms.
No failures on mine - almost a year old.

Game catalogue is getting larger, Internet browser, Blueray (Blockbuster even rent them), You can still stream Music and Videos, Quieter, HDMI port by default, 7,1 surround...etc

Can anyone answer a few questions for me:
Can the 360 be put on it's side and how do the wireless controls work. Do they have to be in sight of the 360 to work. I want to put it in a cabinet with a glass front but its behind the sofa so would not face it.

360 can go on its side, thats how mine is. Think the wireless controllers will be ok like that, may not be quite as good though unless its in front of you.
My vote would def be the 360, its cheaper, got far more games, online is much better and you get the acheivements which make you finish games as the become addictive!!
