Christmas was fantastic back then eh ?
My most memorable was probably this thing called a "Bigtrack" somesort of programmable buggy. I was well pleased with it.
What was yours?

I got a Grifter in the early 80s!
A close 2nd was one of those Tomy games that you played like you were looking through binoculars.
I feel old now!

My old man used to work for MB Games/Hasbro back in the day, so he used to bring home Bigtrak, the Vectrex system, transformers etc.
But they were usually to give away to other people!
I was at the age where I was still young, but wanted to show that I was 'older'. So the temptation was strong, but I don't recall asking for any of these.
I did get a Vectrex plus all games though.

My best pressies were mainly car related strangely I had this toy which was basically a dashboard with a steering wheel and a gearstick which regulated the speed. Behind the dashboard was a sort of round plastic thing with roads and hills on it. You put a toy car onto the road and a magnet held it in place whilst the circular road thingy turned. I have no idea what it was called but it was awesome and felt like you were really driving
My other favourites were Scalectrix, that other track based car game with the yellow plastic track and a lift that took the cars up to the top of three circular bits of track and another toy which was bits of road that you fixed together to make a town. I can't remember what any of them were called as my memory is rubbish and a long, long time has passed since I was a child

My auntie bought me an ED Bee model aircraft engine which my parents could not afford for me and at last I was able to build a powered model aircraft to fly at Chobham Common in Surrey.

Ah, BigTrak. Never has computer programming been more fun - programming it to drive around the lounge, and instead finding that it smashes grannies ankles, knocks over the priceless ornaments and scares the ******* out of the cat.
My fave was technical lego, although my parents made the mistake of finding me a biscuit tin to keep it in. I was banned from playing while they were watching TV because finding the right bit was too noisy

At about 5 years old, my sister bought me a plastic aircraft carrier, which floated in the bath.
When you pulled it's upper deck off, inside was a destroyer.
Inside THAT was a minesweeper.
Inside THAT was a submarine.
And inside THAT was a two-man mini-sub for frogmen to ride on, with two frogmen.
Hours of play. None of it to scale, but I LOVED it
