Default Do BT think we are mugs?

Just had a call from an Indian call centre asking if I want a BT credit card to save money on calls etc..

She did not speak a word of english and could not grasp the concept that I only use my BT line for ADSL.

Why on earth (if I did use my phoneline) would I give my details to a dodgy sounding international caller?

I dont even have a phone plugged into mine, pure adsl only, but i do agree they think we are mugs, dsl speeds are crap now and i have been unable to play games via xbox live for a while due to crap lag and general gayness, i`m off when the contract is up!

My BT was fine, right up until I got rid of them.

Orange seems fine too, and I get all the free calls BT were trying to cold sell lol.

They offered me a deal to stay, dropping my rental by £2 a month. So inc line rental it was stil 39 a month...... Found it hard to comprehend that £15 is cheaper than 39

If she didn't speak a word of English then how did you understand

a>which company she was calling from

b>what services she was trying to sell you

Are you fluent in Hindi? Or is it a case of meri samajh mei nahin aaya?

Took me 8 fecking weeks and 12+ hours on the phone to those morons to sort my broadband out. Only time I was put through to someone I could understand was when I was put through to cancellations and told them to stick their broadband.

You would think cancelling would be the end of it but not with these lot. 2 weeks later a parcel arrives and it is a bt homehub wtf? 2 more hors on the phone and eventually it's all sorted.........until I checked my bank statement and find they were still charging me for broadband

So I cancelled at the bank rather than ring the muppets and am hoping that is the end of it. **** trying to get 2 months money back I don't have the time.

There usual trick is to leave a marker on your line when you cancel broadband. That way no other company can provide it to you. Try and get that removed!

I walked into my local supermarket on day after work, spoke to the man selling cable broadband, filled out one form, a week later a man turned up with a box, plugged it in tested it, and left me with 10mbit broadband that I have never had a problem with. I pay €34 a month for 10 mbit broadband with unlimited flatrate, 2 telephone numbers and free calls with in Germany. I also got a free telephone thrown in, and the monthly price is dropping all the time.

Why is everything so complicated in the UK.

2 things you can do..
everytime she talks, after her long winded sentence, keep saying sorry i don't understand you.

or ..

after she mentions "save you money".. start laughing and don't stop until she puts the phone down

I tried; about 3 weeks to remove it.

They (your current supplier) have to remove it, don't accept the standard 'your new provider has to apply'. I had this changing from BT to Orange.

BT = Bloody To55ers

i work for BT, they currently employ over 4500 agents (all sub-contracted through other companies) in "region 6" for tech help and cold calling bollocks - simply because they are cheaper

they are thick as **** and cause MASSIVE issues for us in development - but thats clearly not important to the ***** in suits

unless you have cable, you will have the same linespeed issues with whoever your SP is, i am one of the much derided ADSL engineers working for openreach (a BT engineer in other words), and most of the non-line length speed issues are caused by internal extension wiring, PM me for details on how to eliminate internal wiring issues but keep your extensions running normally.

mine is plugged into the master socket, speeds are throttled to buggery in the evenings, its fine 1st thing on a sunday morning

i love paying top dollar for "unlimited" use and having my connection throttled

as i said in the computer related forum, BT told me the max speed i could get from max dsl is 4mb (modem sync at 5mb iirc)

which is rather funny, when i can hop onto the upstairs apartments unsecured wireless network, and get speeds of 5.5mb when downloading!!??!! (talktalk lol)

even though you are plugged in to the master, are there any extensions, this can still affect line speed, (as can modem choice, although nothing worth noting.)

The literal tranlstion is; I think understanding is an insult to understanding therefore I've given up understanding. Doesn't tranlate over too well and it's applied in instances where one cannot be bothered to comprehend something.

I'd be happy with 4mb. I've never got more than 0.5mb even though the service is now "up to 8mb".
