Default TomTom France maps

Booked a bit of a last minute trip and I will need my TomTom one. No time to wait for new SD card to come out in the post. Do TT do downloads? Had a look on their site but cant see anything.

BUT they are saying I need TT Home? WTF is this all about. Got 48 hrs to sort it..

Not sure if you've ever seen one, but there are these things called maps.

Looks like wiggly lines on paper in a book.

I downloaded map of France from the site a few months ago.

Just had a look

TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems

You need to have tom tom home 2.1 installed for it to work

TomTom home is client software that runs on your PC and manages your maps for you.

Yeah, and you have clearly not got a clue what its like to drive through white out with no visibility and only having a paper map on your knee... because I have.

I forgot that people never managed to get about before the advent of Sat Nav.

Quite how I manage to navigate through Europe for all these years is a complete mystery!

Same here

A couple of years ago, one of my kids' mates asked if we had sat-nav in our car.

My lad responded, "We don't need it, we've got dad".

best to get the originals though as you wont get map updates with downloaded copies.

although they are free though.

Quite so, personally I think we should all go back to the horse and cart, it was a perfectly acceptable way to get about.

I think the fault of Satnavs is people have no idea which way they are going....or understand the lie of the land.

...and sometimes they don't half take you on funny routes.

Personally I have both, although I have to say I like and prefer maps....at least you can see if you are passing an interesting land mark/view/terrain.

How dare you. You're actually promoting crossing the sea? What's wrong with staying in the UK, people did it quite happily for thousands of years before some spoilsport invented a boat and forced contact with those bloody Frogs. Brought nothing but trouble.

True we ended up owning two thirds of the planet all because of some clown with a boat

Well not wanting to be too pedantic, but at current state of play we "ended up" losing two thirds of the planet...

...and hosting the other third, if everyone here is to be believed

So I think my point stands

???

Anyways... the download from TomTom worked perfectly.
We spent lots of time up in the clouds above Nice / Monaco etc - lots of now and ice around
Had a brilliant trip and will be going back this October to sample it in slightly warmer conditions!
