Radio 1 censors The Pogues - wtf?
I usually chuckle at all the threads on here claiming the UK has gone PC bonkers etc. but I think i am finally in agreement.
BBC Radio 1 has seen fit after 20 years to censor one of the best loved Christmas songs by The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Radio 1 censors Pogues' Fairytale
I just can't believe it and if it was April Fool's Day I would not be surprised. This country really has lost the plot somewhere.
Meanwhile Radio 2 continues to play it in full - huh?

Pathetic - the best christmas song of all time.
Brillant lyrics, lots of energy and some talented singers.
I have the old version and will play the old version - If R1 wants to censor some the the rubbish on the airwaves then start with the likes of Sarah ***, stop the DJ's going on about getting hammered nad how miuch they drink, etc. Do some good and not play at it.
I di wonder how may gay people would really be offeded by this.
Whats a farce - with all the other probblems in society R1 decide to banish the word ****** from a song - just speaks volumes about the BBC.

i noticed that a radio 1 spokespansy said that the lines "might" cause offence.

Can't believe after all these years they've decided to remove those two lines from Fairytale of New York - its pathetic. As mentioned above, maybe if some of the DJs stopped harping on about how hammered they got the previous night, it'd do more good than this cringeworthy stooping to political correctness.

Note that Radio 2 will be playing the full version.
Maybe thats an indication that Radio 2 listeners aren't the moronic fools that listen to the 98% of utter **** on Radio 1.

I can't see any of that there or on the few occasions I've met her. She scored 8/10 easily, haven't had a look at her since she started breeding so it's a possiblity she's a bit rough now like most women once they've had kids.
