Annual leave - remaining days mixup
Hello
Probably petty thing to write on here but as I'm winding down for Xmas thought I'd share my tiny frustration with you all...
Basically, our company IT systems changed during the year so most HR issues such as expenses, holidays etc are now kept on a central system.
The system requires approval at different levels and appears very complex. Anyway, as we are approaching year end I pre-booked my remaining holidays some time ago to gain a full 2 week break at Xmas. I was recently told that I still have 1 day left so I took it in 2 halves during the last couple of weeks.
Secretary now tells me she has totalled up all my holidays on the "system" for this year and has found I'll need to pinch a day from next year to complete what I want for this year!
What a crap system. I do keep my own record but often get told duff information by secretarys when asked to check the "system". My other colleague has been told he has 2 weeks remaining when he knows full well that must be a mistake!
We have so many days annual leave each year but can accumulate lieu days if we do more hours per week etc.
I feel better now I've written that.
Nick
PS I have evidence of an email last month stating the "additional day" so I'll keep that one.

Ours is a shambles too, but only because the people that take care of it dont really care.
Never know whats left etc, and certain people seem to get an excessive amount of time off.

It would be **** easy to keep a record if I knew how many I have at the start of each year. But because of the discretionary overtime = days off in lieu it varies and I have better things to do than monitor that.

I have to take this afternoon off and Thursday and Friday too as I can only carry-over 9 days and I have 11.5 left!!
I would rather be in work having a laugh over the last few days OR have them on a warm sunny day!!
Anyway, I suppose as I have 58.5 days leave a year + the 10 Days Public Holiday - it's hard to keep accurate track really ................ NO!! I'm NOT a Teacher before you go assuming things!
