Default Any sparks in here?

We've got a halogen light fitting in the living room which takes 10 10w lamps. The Mrs has been replacing these slowly with 20w lamps and now it won't work. It has a surface mount transformer which is supposed to have thermal and overload protection but I can't see any reset on it. It doesn't smell like it's burnt out. Is there any way to get this working again?

The transformer is a Kaoyi KTB-105, FYI.

I googled it, and, as I thought it might be, the maximum wattage is 105W.

With 10x 10W, you're OK, but with 20W lamps, you've double overloaded it.

Can you get the lid off and see if there is a small fuse? The one like it I used to have, had a fuse.

If not, it's more than likely you've burnt out the secondary windings.
New transformer, sorry.

The page I found only gives Taiwanese, or Chinese contacts, so you'd need to find an importer, OR: ask at an electrical factors, look on the net for one with a rating of 200W.

I'd guess there is no way of reseting it, some may reset themselves after they cool down, but if yours is been off for a while, and still wont work i'd start looking for a replacement. Another guess is the 105 in the part number is the rating ie 105va, so look for a 230 to 12v 105va transformer, the right shape and size to fit in your fitting. Good luck.
