Angry I have Shingles!

Eep, just got back from the doctors and turns out the rash I've got is Shingles!

Anyone ever had it? I've heard it can be quite painful.. How long does it last?

I'm currently on tablets that I've gotta take 5 times a day for the next 7 days! But there's a chance I'm too late and they won't work....

Anyway, just thought I'd see if anyone's ever had it and what to expect

I had them as a kid (it usually affects oldies). Nasty rash, sore and scabby, but no more in my case. Lasted about 6 weeks.

My grandad caught it off me !

Try dabbing it with TCP while a fan blows over the affected area. Worked wonders for me

I had 4th & 5th cranial nerve shingles (i.e. following the nerve line going from the top of my head to my right eye) about 6 years ago, and it was pain like you would not beleive.

I had it when I was younger, felt like I had been hit with a baseball bat with nails in (If that makes sense)...It's far better than the gall stones I had a few years later though

Hope you make a speedy recovery

Had it twice now...last time was the worst.

The plus side is that the first time I just basically had persistent spots on my chest. They were not nice, but nothing that would ruin Christmas.

Second time was a pain. Had them on the inside of my eyelids and inside my mouth and throat. That kinda sucked

But very "moreish".

Sorry you have got that, I have not had it but have known people with it and it is not very nice.

Hope the tablets help and that it clears up soon.
