Brunstrom: ecstasy is safer than aspirin
The motorists favorite Police Chief has gone on record as saying :
"Ecstasy is a remarkably safe substance, far safer than aspirin. It's far less dangerous than tobacco or alcohol which are freely available."

How many people die from taking aspirin? And he's dead right about alcohol and tobacco.
I detest the guy, but on this occasion, he's right. I'm sure Leah Betts parents would argue, however what about people who die from nut allergies? Is Ecstasy safer than peanuts?

the problem is you cant have a sensible debate about drugs in this country without people throwing words like junkie etc about. These tend to be the same people who will have been smashed on alcohol for most of the Xmas break.

I laughed my a*se off when I watched hollyoaks the other day. A lad had smoked a spliff around the corner, came back and he was all over the place, bumping into things, knocking stuff over.
Yea, a real good grasp of what weed actually does. I have smoked the odd one over the years and it has never had that affect.
Give me a bottle of JD however and.........

I read this the other day
He wants to legalise drugs, but yet motorists are pure sin, and need to be treated worse than dealers/rapists/murderers etc
I wonder if his stance on drugs is down to the fact that he cant stop it, and its getting worse in his area month by month
On saying that, there have been significant arrests and prosecutions and lots of dawn raids on the dealers in his area, so Im surprised really that he wants to legalise it as he is managing to catch *some* of them (but not as many as motorists )

If your stating facts, its a fact that more people die from peanuts than ecstasy. However making it legal would`nt work, firstly the govt would put a tax on it that even fuel would be scared of and secondly it becomes easier to get hold of and abused by more (see alcohol).
The laws at the moment dont work thats true, however I believe its probably the best your going to get under the circumstances. Legalizing it is not the perfect answer.

You can name one person who died from an E overdose.. Now I could string off LOADS of people whom I actually known or are from famillies I know who have died from Lung cancer or Alchochol abuse.
Also someone of their pickle on E is pretty much harmless.

You get drunks every weekend smashing ever others heads in, the most trouble you would get out of someone who has had E's is them running round hugging each other to death

She died cos she was force fed ten pints of water by worried parents cos thats what "experts" were saying to do in the 90's, not killed by an E.
The load on her body from all the water messed with her vital organs!!!!!

I think you'll find Leah Betts Died from drinking too much water...... doh!
MDMA (pure E) is actually quite a safe substance if taken in moderation.
Problems start because the production of E is not regulated.
You really have to ask yourself... Why is this illegal?
I know miles more people suffering the effects of Smoking and Drinking than E but they are socially acceptable drugs.....

Either this bloke is getting seriously mis-quoted by the media or he is bonkers Although it's probably a bit of both.
I can understand how stuff like Asprin can be considered more dangerous as ecstasy because everyone knows "E" can be harmful, potentially deadly. Yet aren't always aware of the dangers of legal medication.
BUT very few people realise the dangers taking non-prescribed and legal medication, such as Asprin can pose - especially on a regular basis.
Like alot of medication, it has side effects, it can cause allergic reactions (my mum's partner WILL DIE if he is given Asprin ), not to list other harmful effects such as liver damage.
Lots of medication states not to use whilst operating heavy machinary (such as some cold remedies). And what do alot of people do regardless? Drive a car!
As with smoking and Tobacco, well. It's down to ignorance: Everyone is aware of all the harmful problems it causes. But people ignore it. Arguably less people are going to be so ignorant over ecstacy. Mostly because of it being banned and thanks to all the anti-drug propaganda we all get shown throughout our lives.

Well that was created and paid for by various firms who's biggest clients were beer and energy drink suppliers both who were concerned about how E was reducing the amount of money they were making.....

There should be an honest review of all drugs and policies imo!!!!!!
Alcohol is worse than most "recreational" drugs, but the people who make the laws up drink alcohol so wont touch it!!!!
How many people do you know who turn into a pr1ck after 5 pints????
How many people get violent after a spliff or a pill?????????
