Hi,
I had a roofing company give me a quote to remove my chimney caps, replace the soak away (?), repoint the brickwork around the chimney where they'd come loose and finally tidy up the bay window roof as the mortar was falling away.

The basically removed the pots, slapped some muck down the side where the chimney meets the roof, then used some more muck (as they called it) to do the bay window.

The bay window looks a total mess, the chimney has not been re-pointed and a tile has now slipped down the roof from the top - this was a few that they replaced having broke them.

Clearly its a **** job that they charged me £800 for (it was dark when I got home and paid). I reckon it took them 2 hours tops.

I've asked them repeatedly to come and sort it and the 'owner' of the firm says every time that he will come out that day and then doesn't. I've also left various messages asking for a return call and sent texts. Nothing.

For anyone interested, the firm is Roofs R Us in Swindon!

What should I do about this (cowboy) outfit? What are the next steps for me to take.

Got a receipt and this is the so called warranty!

In the meantime I need my tiles refixing - can I get someone else to do this during the complaint? Dont really want anymore rain coming in!

contact your local trading standards

write a letter recorded delivery to said company ... roofs R Us ... sorry, explaining the problems. You could also get a second opinion on the work done by a roofing company reccommended to you ... we have done this before for customers who are taking court action
