They don't think he off'ed himself, although there were wild press reports of a large quanity of pills being strewn all around the room it turns out that these pills were actually in a container, on top of a set of drawers...

Not exactly a hollywood massive but still sad news at 28 yrs old. Was in films such a Brokeback Mountain, The Patriot (Mel Gibson) and A Knights Tale.

Heard about this last night, not sure what to make of it all tbh but either way its a shame, he also played Ned Kelly recently. Good actor IMO but if it was suicide then the only sympathy goes to his close ones.

Wasn't he in the Brothers Grimm? I quite liked that.
Wonder if it was a mistake? If he was already ill and felt bad but couldn't sleep maybe take a few pills to get to sleep but the combination killed him.
What a shame

Do people really care that much? Cant say I'm bothered at all to be honest. Feel sorry for his kid but as for him well makes no odds to me if he's alive or dead.
I'll save my sorrow for people like our troops being killed in action.

do people care???? who knows - it was posted on here as news/information...obviously some people care as they have said so here. Not sure what your point is - colin Mcrae/richard burns are as relevant to me as this actor seems to be to you....would be a little odd for me to roll up on the many threads about them and ask who gives a toss though.

10 things i hate about you was a good one. Apparently his portrayal of the Joker is excellent but be a difficult one to watch simply because they did the complete story in the first (and best) batman film.
Saying 'accidental overdose' of sleeping tablets. never sure how that happens. I mean taking 4 when you are only supposed to have 2 shouldn't be enough to off you, i reckon you'd have to take a fair amount. That said, they have some weird and powerful drugs in the US sothat might explain it.

"that much" ...how much? No one on this thread in crying their eyes out....but they care enough to comment, which is handy with this being a bulletin board.
not sure what you mean about "manor of death" - at this time its deemed an accidental overdose......mcraes chopper was accidental and i doubt anyone applies for a brain tumor. None of these people caused their own deaths.....i know none of them so care as much about their passing as any random human - but still understand that others may differ.

That's about right. Not really affecting me a lot although i have to say it is of course a surprise given his age etc.
More annoyed than anything that people i don't actually like such as Amy Crackhouse and Pete Docherty aren't 'accidentally' overdosing and thus giving a positive anti drugs message to kids. Guess you don't have accidents when you are a pro.

Perhaps part of the reason why people are bothered and wish to pass on their condolences, whether the person who has died is a movie star or a rally driver, is because it reminds us all of our own mortality and just how fragile life is.
I'm the same age as Heath Ledger and certainly don't feel like my time is up....but then you just never know.
I don't know how he died so I ceratinly won't speculate. But I'm damned sure, however he died, that he has family and friends who are really hurting right now and though it may not seem it at the time, people offering their condolences over the loss of a loved one does provide some comfort.
My thoughts are with his daughter, family and friends during this incerdibly difficult time.

Why are people shocked? People, many more deserving of the attention, die every day. It's been on the news, chat shows, current affairs and radio constantly here, just sick of it.
