Bi-Valves
i used to work on a boat that dredged for them. you will either love them or hate them. Esther my wife loves them, i hate them and find them totally in-edible. they make me gag!

Absolutely lovely when cooked right. Only takes a minute or so in a little oil. Overcook them and they are like rubber. Cant really describe them - certainly not really like any other fish / shellfish
Queen scallops the nicest - Some people don't like the orange bit (Roe i presume) but it's the tastiest bit.

I've never eaten them myself, but would imagine they taste pretty similar to oysters. The little buggers can actually swim a bit!

I like all kinds of shell fish and I hacve some fresh Devon scallops every week with some fish,
They have a delicate taste and you can safely eat the whole thing including the orange bit.
As was said, it is important not to leave them in the frying pan for too long.

We had them for a christmas dinner starter at our local pub this year. Apparently they are it bit bland on their own but ours were in a mild curry sauce with crispy battered onions and they were delicious , not cheap though
