Attention Dear Friend,
Complement of the day, my quest for a responsible business partner brought
me to you, having considered how best to reach you, I resorted to email,
since I cannot call you to explain my proposal on the phone, I do hope you
understand with me for sending you this unexpected email, though very
important!
I am Dickson James, I write to seek your co-operation and assistance as a
foreign partner to enable us make some funds transfer so we can invest in
a more stable economy, probably in your country, if good investment
ventures abound. I am a senior civil servant with the Nigeria Civil
Service Commission, I am making this proposal to you in strict confidence
on behalf of myself and partner. As civil servants in my country, the
Nigeria Civil Service Commission(NCSC) code of conduct beareau forbids us
to own a foreign account and we have in our possession an overdue payment
bill totaling Fifty Million United States (US$50,000, 000.00) which we
want to transfer abroad with the assistance and co-operation of an
individual or organisation to receive the funds via a reliable bank
account on our behalf.
To enable me educate you more on the modalities of this transaction, for
your assistance and participation, you shall have 30% of the entire sum
and 60% will be for me and my partner, while 10% or less of the entire sum
will be used to defray all expenses such as, taxation and other
miscellaneous incurred in the course of transferring these funds to your
account.
Do note that all modalities have been perfected towards ensuring a hitch
free transfer of these funds, so on receipt of your sincere desire of
assisting us, we will swing into full action as we hope to complete the
transfer of the funds within a 14 working days, with your assistance and
total commitment. Please we are counting on your support, because this
transaction will workout in a very short time, we have our share, you keep
yours, or as the case may be, invest in a joint venture.

DEAR JAMES CLARE,
Thanks for your urgent reply. This transaction involves trust and honest from all parties involved.Like I stated in my first email, I would like to transfer to your country the sum of us$50 million for investment. This will only need a reliable bank details in your name or your company for me to make the deposit, your contact address, telephone numbers and a copy of your id will also be needed.
In my first email,I explained the reason why I need you to receive the funds in your country. In Nigeria, civil servants are not allowed to own foreign account to avoid siphoning of Government or tax payer funds abroad. To be very elaborate, all I would need to do is get proper documents to aid this transaction from my office in your name and will send an application to the finance ministry for approval before the funds can be transferred to your account and I promise that you will get 35% of the amount on completion of the transaction.
Since I mentioned trust and honesty in my first paragraph,it means that I am already willing to trust you with this obligation of receiving the funds in your account and you should be honest enough not to cheat on me when we conclude the transaction. Please find in attachment a copy of my international passport.
Keep in mind that we have a 14 days target to complete this transaction and I will join you in your country immediately. Most importantly, please keep transaction confidential between you and i until after funds transfer
I am awaiting your prompt reply..

and my reply back - sort of turning the tables on him maybe
Dear Mr Dickson
I thank you for your prompt reply to my prompt reply.
I notice your passport expires towards the end of February.
I am afraid to say that you will not be allowed entry into the country with that passport (My sister works for immigration so I know this info)
I feel it would be pointless at this stage supplying the details you ask as you will not be able to benefit of them with your current situation.
As you probably know, your colleague who gave you my details probably informed you that I work in the oil industry. We are currently looking into the feasability of opening a manufacturing plant over in Nigeria, so it is with good timing that you contact me, as you may be able to help with a location for such a plant, especially being in the position that you are. Obviously if you can help with a suitable location and depending on how far this feasability study goes maybe even a possibility of sourcing good reliable workers who have experience of blending oils to different specifications. You would of course be compensated generously for this, through cash in hand so that there would be no trace of you receiving anything from us.
Please let me know if you can help with this.
Kind regards
James clare

I am always sorely tempted to email a 100mb file (txt of 0's and 1's, BMP etc) but can't be arsed creating one.
Would set it to send a few times overnight - every night, for a week or two.
Or is that a waste of time? When I have replied in the past I get a delivery failure message saying address is invalid!!!

right bit of an update, it had all gone quiet so i sent him the following;
Dear Dickson
I take it from the lack of response that you were not interested in my proposition, with regards helping me find a suitable location for an oil refinery plant and workers.
Please delete previous correspondance between us, therefore elimating all traces of evidence of what was being offered to you.
