Default Advice on new 32" LCD television needed?

I am after advice on a new 32" LCD television, this is for my mother she has her eye on a panasonic TX-32LXD7 or TX-32LMD70 both retailing at £650 at Argos. Looking around other websites you can find them down to as cheap as £540 for one of them?
Looking at around this price range what do folk recommend, been happy with and who did u buy from.
What sort of features are must haves on tvs these days please help.
Thank you

I would say do NOT buy from Currys, Dixons or PCWorld ..... if you have an annoying pixel they will ignore you. Their Customer Service comes straight from the dark ages.

Buy from John Lewis and get decent Customer Service ..... ARGOS have excellent Customer Care these days too

The LMD70 is showing as £600 in Curry's sale at the moment. Generally speaking you can't go far wrong with Panasonic, although they are generally towards the higher end of the price range. With something like a television I always prefer to buy from a shop rather than online unless the savings are really good as any problems and you can go straight back and give them a hard time. If you printout the web page and take it with you then you'll get it in store for the online price. The spec looks OK (as seems normal now there is a digibox built in although in my opinion it doesn't matter because for practical reasons you really want your digibox in your DVD recorder) but there's no substitute for going in and seeing what the picture is like.

We've just got an LG LC56, very impressed with it so far!

I've always been into Panasonic stuff but in the shop, the LG won hands down, a bargain too from Empire Direct at £399 LG 32LC56 Ctv Lcd 32"16:9 Inc T/Top St Hd Ready | EmpireDirect.co.uk Electrical Appliances

hi opm...

on boxing day me and my fiance went to look and see what bargains were to be had.

went to currys and ended up picking this up...

Currys - Shop for Plasma and LCD Flat Panel TV - Samsung LE32R88BD 32" HD Ready digital LCD TV

well that a stand and home cinema kit. get the tv for £499 from £599 instore. hd ready, 32" screen. bloody excellent it is. not had one issue with it in a months use. from what ive gathered a couple of companies make all the screens for most brands, just a different name on the front most the time. although maybe not a high end panasonic or sony, for the money it does the job excellently and looks stunning too in like a shiney black casing.

Panasonic TX 32LXD70 is what you want, i had one for a short while and they are a stunning LCD with 100hz technology which helps to reduce motion blur. The only reason i sold mine is that after 1 week i felt it was a little small for the room where i watched television, i replaced it with a 42 inch tv.

Find the cheapest online outlet with a stop-front, and then get a price-match from John Lewis (assuming they sell the same model).

You get a 5year warranty from John Lewis (included in the price-matched price) and decent customer service.

Another recommendation for Samsung's however - I got a 32" Samsung a few months back and so far been impressed. 8000:1 contrast ratio which is better than many of the others. Along with an upscaling Samsung HD870 DVD player picture quality is faultless!

They'll match the price of the one with the 1year warranty, but still give you a 5year warranty as all John Lewis TV's come with their 5year warranty as standard.

I got my TX-32LXD70 from tec7 at House of Fraser. I paid £600 incl a five year warranty, which I thought was too good to be true, but that's what they advertised and that's what I paid Can't see the same deal again

Product Catalogue - Tec7

but I found mine just by chance as I walked through HofF in Lakeside.

Saw this afterwards which may be of use
