Default what to use for modeling?

want some modeling stuff,

bear in mine it will be my first time, so i need something which be easy to mould or at least easy to correct if i have errors.
and prefer to withstand warm conditions ie home or in car

shall it be

milliput
art clay silver
polymorph

was going to say black stockings and sussies - thought it was for the other kind of modelling

is it for something to keep - needs to set hard like clay?

Plasticine is good, especially if you work over an armature (skeleton) of wire, wood etc. Industrial plasticine is even better, though a bit harder to work.

I think milliput is easily the best, though, except it's expensive and you have a limited working time before it hardens - which means you often have to build up the model in stages. After it's hardened, you can carve and sand it to a really high degree of detail and finish.

It's made of plasticine and milliput over a steel and copper wire skeleton. The head, hands, feet and last third of the tail are milliput because they are delicate and liable to damage. It's about 17 inches long and 8 inches tall.

Oh, and the other downside to milliput is that you can become sensitised to the epoxy resin by too much handling. I'm now allergic to the stuff and have to wear latex gloves when handling it.

Milliput, easily. It sets like rock, but it will also flex slightly rather than snap when put under stress.
