Question Bike lights

A question for the cyclists among us!

Can anyone recommend some good bike lights at a reasonable price?

The smaller the better, rather than big chunky ones!

Try Chain Reaction, Merlin cycles, Lumicycle or Wiggle, should be something on one of those.

I bought a cateye set from Evans Cycles - discount for buying the front and back together, about £35 iirc.

Depends what you want to use it for. For commuting there are some good Cateye LED ones that last well. If you want to go offroading I would go for a Cateye ABS 20 or above which are probably more towards £90.00. If you want to have fun offroad, probably lumicycle 10W halogens start at £130.00 up to about £300.00 for and HID (like mine)

Strongly recommend either of these:

For lightness/size, go for the first lot

Cateye EL135 And LD130 Light Set for £19.99 | Cateye Lights - Sets | Cycle | Wiggle

For performance, then go for these:

Cateye EL530 And LD1100 Light Set for £47.99 | Cateye Lights - Sets | Cycle | Wiggle

I run both lots for my daily commute and haven’t been run down yet

I don't ride at night if I can help it but I've seen a number of people using head torches as well as bike lights. Check out Wiggle for Petzl head torches if you are in the market - I use them for night orienteering, best thing since ChrisB's flapjack

Not good on roads.........but great aid to main-lights for off-road

ie. on a road you turn your head to look somewhere and get hit by oncoming

I have a set of Ay Up's
An excellent system! Lights designed for mountain-biking... Ay-Up!
The final price for them was circ £200 however for that you do get 2 sets of lights ans 3 batteries. The roadie kit is there too giving you the 1 light set. They are just about to launch a UK stockist which will be handy from a spares point of view.
Have a search on Singletrack for lights (LED) as there has been A LOT of threads on the subject. From £10 ebay jobs to the mega HIDs

Cheers

Paul.

Ay-up are great if you don't mind the price, i was tempted to buy a set myself.

For rears it has to be this, ive never seen any rear to match this one....it's silly bright.

Blackburn Mars 3 Rear 7 LED - Lights - Rear - 11.99 GBP - Free P & P to UK & Ireland, Cheap International Rates. Next day delivery from Europes Largest Online Bikeshop.

As for a front hmm

Id have a go at this one, plenty of good reviews, you can buy it as a set with a rear light for the same price.

Electron Nano 9 Front LED EHP217 - Lights - Front - 14.99 GBP - Free P & P to UK & Ireland, Cheap International Rates. Next day delivery from Europes Largest Online Bikeshop.

But id still have the blackburn, it has 2 side led's important if you want to be seen if commuting.
