Default Random car appeared outside the house.

No big deal, but it is not a locals car, not been round here before. Appeared last night and was immediatly covered VERY well with a car cover.
Loving owner maybe.....?
Hmmm its a dirty 51 plate ford cougar.

Just seems strange.
The plates are covered but I just had a peep, and ran it through HPI and NID comes up ok.

Might just be me turning into a curtain twitcher, after all I am 35 next month. But im ever curious me lol

Prob just got no tax. But showing no change of keeper since 04 and outstanding finance too... Another 2 years yet.

Just thought I would share that and see if anyone has an opinion.

lol there is always that.
Just annoying. Its no one down my end of the road, but they have parked in the middle of 2 spaces outside the house, which encourages people to over hang my drive.

So if its untaxed.... its getting clamped. Pretty hot for that round here.

lol seeeeeee im not the only one who thinks that way.
The cover just seems strange. Might pop to the nick tomorrow just to be annoying.
Surely its almost the same as failing to display a valid tax disc. IF it has one.
Better safe than sorry eh.

When I was living in the sticks of Kent a few years back I saw a similar thing. A unknown car turned up - quite a nice Range Rover, I saw the geezer get out, walk around the car, then lock it (??) It sat there for 2 days and then cops were all over it and a trailer turned up. It was allegedly left at a landmark point (not far from a main Road opposite sleepy pub and phone box) and had been fitted with a tracker. Evidently, it's common to leave a nicked motor like this and then go back a few days later and see if there is any activity...but then you've HPI'd it. Might be worth doing again in case it hadn't been reported at the original first time....

The owner is obviously mentally unstable - So any erratic and odd behaviour is to be expected.

lol if its a project car, they can do their project outside their own house then
Its one of those hard to explain things, but its pretty sleepy round here, so something like this is pretty strange. Has got the attention of a lot of neighbours, and no one seems to know whos it is.

Russ, indeed mate it is always worth getting checked out, its only a quick PNC check after all.

Turning up with the trailer is unusual, when my old boss' XJR got nicked, Manchester Police just told him where it was and that he'd have to make his own way over to collect it

Whats the point if you paying for recovery if its locked up and you have the spare keys? Assuming there is no need for soco. Tracker offer a secuirty guard service which could be handy.

WOW - wish you lived near me LOL - you may've spotted the little toe-rag who scratched the hell outta my scoob
I don't really have an opinion on what to do - I spose you could go down the nick and annoy them about it - but what are they really going to do? there is nothing illegal in having a car covered?? YES, i know if its not taxed its illegal, but without cause for reason - can the police really go uncovering vehicles for the hell of it?? And really now - whats the likelyhood of them actually doing anything in the first place. The police round here don't seldom move out of the BP garage where they are serviced with hot chocolate and pastries - they certainly don't like to get out of their cars in the rain - like they had to when someone shot out the drivers window of our scoob - when we were IN it!

If the guy had nicked it, he wouldn't normally have access to keys....

LOL - getting confused with the posts - I am a woman ya know - we do that
yes that does seem a little odd - generally if a car is nicked, its vandalised and burned out - maybe he was a conciencious car thief? OR maybe it was someone who did a house burglary and took the car on the drive! There are a thousand possibilities for that - but it still seems odd none-the-less that after you'd nicked and drived a car - that you'd lock it!!!

Can they uncover it, yes. Its parked on the public highway so needs to be able to be identified I would have though, as well as displaying its right to be there aka tax.
Its not really annoying the police with it. If a patrol has nothing on for a while, there is no harm popping along and having a look. There was a car outside my sister a couple of years back, guy kept returning but never moved it. Eventually she reported it and it turned out to be full of stolen gear. Guy was using it for storage after burglaries.

If you've never seen it before, it doesn't belong to anyone down your street - and your genuinely suspicious about it - give the cops a call and get them to have a look at it.

At least they can go around to the registered owners address and suggest they move their vehicle somewhere more appropriate

You have my intentions perfectly
No harm if nothing is wrong. Its not gonna be a 999 call, just a simple, pop round when you can one.
