That we should all drive around at walking pace, with someone in front waving a red flag?

If he is anything like the old chap up the road from us, he should have his scooter fitted with a speed limiter... he is an absolute nutter.. you see him coming and your best form of defence is to leap into the nearest hedge otherwise you'll be flattened..

He did get his come uppance a few years back.. he hit a pot hole at speed at tipped over.. it didn't learn him though

Old woman across the street has one of these, shes become a bit of a liability loosing her marbles with alzheimer's but wont agree too go into residential care or anything, wont accept help from carers etc.

Me mam has kinda took pitty on her going across making her something too eat & cups of tea, checking on her etc. Becoming a right pain now keeps on phoning across here at stupid times for silly things, rang at 3 am this morning asking for some 1 too go across and open a bottle of milk.

She also had one of these mobility scooters, she kept on going out on it barely charged so it ended up going flat. Then she would ring our house for help which usually ended up with me going too recover it. There had been a few people complaining about her riding it in the middle of the road without considering others.

Bloke across the road got a nice BMW M3 few weeks ago. The old woman on her scooter rode it straight out of her garden across the road then into the side of it leaving a rather large dent in the rear quarter pannel. She then turned it a little and rode off up the street scratching right the way along the side of his car.

Think he ended up having too pay for the repairs him self or claiming on his insurance.

The last remaining relative that has any contact with her came not long after and took it away so she cant do any more damage. Now she does nothing but complain about having her mobility taken away from her & wants too buy another.

You have to think ahead to when you might well have the same problem and how you might expect a bit of help with life in general.

It might be irritating but tolerance is a real virtue in a situation like this.

The help she needs by the sound of it is from the establishment,
At certain times in life i think you need to accept that you need more help than a neighbour or two, residential care for altzheimers would be a better bet and much safer for her for sure.

Better that than she leaves the iron or cooker on and the next call is to the fire bridage.

Tolerance is all very well but has she no family to help in the first instance before social care takes over?
It's all very well offering to help but some people really take the mick (my nanna being one of these people) when they start calling up at all hours to do inane things that don't need doing.

Yes you are right Paul, the care of the elderly in this country is nothing less than shameful and the situation is getting worse. Believe me I know from experience that it is difficult to get the elderly to give up their indepence and that is not surprising when you think about it. I see that the "plonkers" are aiming to make the very low paid pensioners pay back tax on small amounts on income which were always ignored for tax purposes in the past. How mean can you get?

scoob babe, you will have to hope that you don't inherit her problems yourself one day!
